Today, we’re celebrating International Day of the Seafarer! We’re proud to employ dedicated seafarers across our organization who work hard every day to support our essential service.

Happy International Day for Women in Maritime! Globally, women are underrepresented in the seafarer workforce. At Marine Atlantic, women represent about 36% of our seafarer work force. We’re proud to support women who are making a difference working in male dominated industries and who are paving the way to improve the gender balance in the industry.

Lessening our environmental impact, one crossing at a time. The Ala’suinu has dual-fuel technology, and runs using both regular engines and batteries to reduce the amount of fuel burned.

This Safety and Health Week, we’re celebrating the incredible work our employees do on a daily basis to ensure that everyone on Marine Atlantic vessels and property can travel or work in a safe and secure environment.

The Ala’suinu is a vessel of many firsts. It’s our first vessel to feature dual-engine technology, our first to offer passenger pods and is the first of our vessels to hold an Indigenous name. On this day of mourning, we remember those who have lost their lives in workplace incidents and recognize those who have been disabled or injured in the workplace.

With the Ala’suinu in North Sydney, our team is focused on completing all the necessary requirements to prepare the vessel to enter service this summer to ensure that our passengers enjoy a safe and accessible experience on this gorgeous new ship.
