[edit]- Lutes - bandora. ATLAS of Plucked Instruments. "The bandora (or pandora) is in fact a slightly bigger version of the orpharion, and probably designed earlier. It misses the thin top course. The strings were not gut, but metal (wire and twisted brass), just like on the orpharion. The bandora was probably designed by John Rose in England around 1560 and became soon (especially in England) a popular instrument untill about the second half of the 17th century."
