Files with permission from Ticket#2007110510012686

[edit]

Information provided in ticket:2020080110000491 indicates that the release forwarded to OTRS in ticket:2007110510012686 was likely never valid.

  •  Keep Who is being claimed here to be the copyright holder(s)? And how valid is the current claim? These photographs have seen widespread circulation in newspapers, magazines, books, and works of visual and performing arts for many decades, and I am concerned that the current ticket complaint in an anti-LGBTQ attempt to prevent the circulation of these images of gay rights pioneers Barbara Gittings, Frank Kameny, and John Fryer. These are, in short, images of historical importance and should not be removed from the collection without a thorough and painstaking public discussion of the claims being made against them. @Beyond My Ken: As I'm sure you know, I'm limited in what I can say about the contents of OTRS tickets. The original permission email was forwarded to OTRS and claimed to be from the New York Public Library. No evidence was provided to support that claim, and no request was made for additional evidence. It would not have been accepted under current standards. The new ticket is from an authorized representative of the NYPL and states that the text of the message is inaccurate, that they have no record of any such release, and that they are prohibited from releasing Kay Tobin Lahuse's works under the GFDL. I'll also note that several other images that depended on releases forwarded by this sender were deleted or did not have permission confirmed due to falsified releases. --AntiCompositeNumber (talk) 00:28, 7 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Deleted: failed OTRS permissions speedy delete as copyright violation, any question over the process can be discussed without the photos being on Commons. --Gnangarra 04:36, 7 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
