Neil Armstrong (1930–2012), commander of NASA's Apollo 11 mission, descends the ladder of the Apollo Lunar Module (or Lunar Excursion Module, LEM) to become the first human to step foot on the surface of the Moon.
Transcription:

I'm at the foot of the ladder. These LEM footpads are only depressed in the surface of that one or two inches. Although the surface appears to be very, very fine-grained as you get close to it. It's almost like a powder. [Unintelligible] It's very fine. Okay, I'm going to step off the LEM now. That's one small step for [a] man, one giant leap for mankind.
