Question re file move

[edit]

Hello!

Would you support that these files be moved to the same name but without the long string of letters and numbers in the end? I don't see the need of that string in the very file name and also the filenames don't really follow COM:FN. Jonteemil (talk) 20:21, 30 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Okay I see that all of your bot's uploads has that long string in the end. Why? Maybe they all should be moved however that would take a while. Jonteemil (talk) 20:35, 30 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
(talk page stalker) @Jonteemil: That string is the DPLA ID. Why would you want to remove it? - Jmabel ! talk 03:25, 31 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The id just makes the filename less precise. I think the long string makes the filenames look like a mess. The string is already mentioned in the file history and file page, I don't see why we would like to make a mess of the filenames with it as well. Jonteemil (talk) 10:44, 31 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Jonteemil: Presumably he has tools that prevent double uploads by his bot based on that. Flickr2Commons does the same thing with Flickr IDs. - Jmabel ! talk 18:54, 31 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!
