Chinese Christian Church Brisbane, St Lucia

Hi there. In March 2015, at Chinese Christian Church Brisbane, St Lucia, you added that this church is affiliated with the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Brisbane and the Roman Catholic churches in Queensland. I could not locate evidence that this church is a Catholic Church and removed both categories. I added that it is affiliated with Chinese Christian Church in Australia. Please let me know if you wish to discuss. Cheers. Rangasyd (talk) 14:03, 22 June 2020 (UTC) Thank you for your corrections.Kgbo (talk) 23:25, 22 June 2020 (UTC)

Category discussion warning

Phoenix Centre has been listed at Commons:Categories for discussion so that the community can discuss ways in which it should be changed. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this category, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for discussion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it. If the category is up for deletion because it has been superseded, consider the notion that although the category may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new category.

In all cases, please do not take the category discussion personally. It is never intended as such. Thank you!

Welcome to the happy world of manhole covers

Hi! A group of Spanish users are making a lot of a work about manhole covers. So finding your edit on file:Ajuntament València 2021 sanejament.jpg has been great news to us! Some warning about names and places. While most of the times the name on the cover is the place where it is, do not take it for granted. We find misplaced manhole covers very often. Some times because of adjacent towns share a street (such as Aldaia and Alaquàs, or Valencia and Mislata), but other cases are not so clear. The most extreme case we have found so far is file:14-01-23-port-de-soller-103.jpg. It was made for Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (that's in the Canary Islands, of course) but it is placed in Soller (in Majorca!).

We have started categorizing covers by the year - as you can see in Category:Manhole covers by year - and we are trying to get at least one example for every year since 1925. Any help with that is also welcome!

Enjoy manhole covers!

Request

Hi Kgbo, I appreciate all the images you post into the Queensland section. I like to do photo montages of cities and towns in Queensland. I've done a few, I did the Brisbane one (mostly), Rockhampton, Warwick, Toowoomba was my most recent. They look a lot better than the old images and it helps sell the place as first impressions count in my view. The next montage I'd like to do is for the Gold Coast, as per landmarks I'd like to put on there would include the new Hota Gallery. When you next do the Gold Coast do you think you could take some pics of it and upload them to Wikimedia please? Would really help me, if not its all good I might try to take some but I don't think my camera is very good. Thanks--Caltraser5 (talk) 12:25, 26 May 2021 (UTC)

@Caltraser5: Happy to be of assistance, what you do is really important to promote and improve profile of Queensland’s towns. PS my “camera” is not very good either. Kgbo (talk) 13:14, 26 May 2021 (UTC)
Awesome thankyou so much, and thanks for the kind words!--Caltraser5 (talk) 13:26, 26 May 2021 (UTC)
@Caltraser5: Could you consider doing photo montage of Grafton, New South Wales, I have been there recently and found a picturesque town worth its own montage. Check out photos in Category:June 2021 in Grafton, New South Wales[1]. Kgbo (talk) 05:08, 7 November 2021 (UTC)
@Kgbo: Hi Kgbo, yes I can do one for Grafton, it is a lovely historic town! I was looking to finally try my hand at making a decent Gold Coast photomontage, but it still has too few good images to work with. Especially as how I like to present cities best I can, example: Bundaberg I worked on, not the best montage and not really happy with it, but it has an appeal of the old Southern cities of the United States with a similiar history like Savannah. Rockhampton I sort of like to imagine as Australia's own New Orleans, its historic river precinct is arguably one of the best collections of 19th century architecture in Australia. Gold Coast, there are the obvious Los Angeles + Miami vibes, in spite of the cities youth I tend to recieve more European seaside resort vibes, and am keen to wait until I can try to present a montage in that light. I have not viewed the Grafton wikimedia before but I'll see what vibes I get and what I can work with!--Caltraser5 (talk) 06:42, 7 November 2021 (UTC)
@Caltraser5: I like the Rockhampton montage, especially the older buildings like the City Hall photo which appears to be in Australian Art Deco style. Unfortunately there are too few good photos of Bundaberg to choose from. Also have a look on my recent photos from Queensland and NSW for some inspiration. You can find them on Commons is Category:Photographs of Australia by Kgbo. Good luck hunting. Kgbo (talk) 08:36, 7 November 2021 (UTC)
@Kgbo: Thanks Kgbo! Rockhampton I would like to do again once better images come out, I will have to look through the link you sent me thanks. I created a photomontage for Grafton, it's not the best, some of the images didn't quite fit unfortunately. But the general vibe I got from Grafton oddly reminded me of the Polish countryside, wide river, red brick, and lots of trees. So I made do with what I had thanks to you!--Caltraser5 (talk) 09:24, 7 November 2021 (UTC)
