Talk:Mortimer Mouse

There should be a caption for Mickey Mouse's newphews, Morty and Ferdie Fieldmouse, as the name "Morty" is short for "Mortimer."

Merger

edit

Anyone thought of merging this with Mickey Mouse?--Tdxiang 陈 鼎 翔 (Talk)ContributionsContributions Chat with Tdxiang on IRC! 05:00, 31 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

That would seem like a good idea. Cbrown1023 14:44, 28 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

But are we sure that Mortimer Mouse (Minnie's uncle) was created by Floyd Gottfredson? I think he was created by Walt Disney. In fact Walt Disney wrote a part of the story "Mickey Mouse in the Death Valley" and in the part of the story written by him Mortimer Mouse is mentioned although he doesn't appears physically. In fact in the early strips of the story Minnie, following Mortimer's (false) death, inherits Mortimer's old home. Mortimer Mouse also appears physically in the part of the story written by Walt Disney though he is disguised in a mysterious character (only at the end we discover that Mortimer and the mysterious character were the same person).--213.140.19.116 10:39, 23 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

I think that merging the two is a terrible idea, two totally separate entities, also, Mortimer Mouse was created by Walt Disney, SEVERAL SOURCES

Outland

edit

Can someone add some information as to his appearences in Outland? Also, I believe that Disney threatened legal action if this characther wasn't removed. This character was removed from the comic strip but I don't know if that was from legal pressure from Disney.

Minnie's uncle on TV?

edit

I've eliminated the statement about Minnie's uncle Mortimer making an appearance, strumming a guitar, in an episode of MICKEY MOUSE CLUBHOUSE. The guitar-strumming character was really the other Mortimer—the rival, AKA Montmorency Rodent, whom we also discuss here and whose CLUBHOUSE appearances are already noted.
