The ones added are ones who have current Wikipedia articles and have the OSP mentioned in the article. There might be a few more former inmates with articles, as they do not always link or spell out where the convict is/was incarcerated. So if you can find articles for those people, add them in, or start an article for them. My personal preference is to keep the list like the lists for notable residents in a town where the consensus is inclusion is kept to those with existing Wikipedia articles. I'm doubtful that notorious crooks deserve much space in wikipedia, and have no problems with your guidlines. Jeannace June Freeman is mentioned in passing in a Wikipedia article, covering the place of her crime---Peter Skene Ogden State Scenic Viewpoint. As much as anything I was sort of wondering why the crooks who were mentioned were honored with 'bios'.

I went through the list of 10 listed 'notables' They consist of 5 serial killers, 2 historic outlaws, a stray murderer(Moore), a neo nazi (Krager), and an anarchist (Thaxton).

IT looks like the Krager page is present becasuse the Bot looking for neo Nazi stuff missed it because the right key words for the Bot to find it weren't present, and the Thaxton page is flagged, and in my view should be removed. As for the serial killers, there seems to be a WIKI project to commerate them so I suppose nothing is to be said about their presence, and I have no issue with a few historic outlaws (The Deautremont Brothers would qualify as historic outlaws)--though they have no page, but as for Thaxton, Krager and Moore, the editorial redeeming value of their presence in Wiki escapes me.Rvannatta (talk) 19:40, 10 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Feel free to nominate any articles you don't think would pass the notability criteria at Afd. And "notable" doesn't mean they're good citizens and it certainly isn't a matter of "deserving" space or "honoring" them. Katr67 (talk) 04:12, 11 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
I do not personally endorse the inclusion (or exclusion) within Wikipedia of any of the articles linked. But if they exist, then they should be linked. Concerns about inclusion (notability) within Wikipedia of these people need to be addressed on those articles' talk pages. But as a general guideline, notability usually comes quite easily for serials killers since their crimes usually receive extensive media coverage and Ann Rule seems to write a book about everyone of them. Using the "covered in reliable sources" criteria helps to limit moral decisions and censorship, as well as the subjectiveness of notability (well I haven't heard of them so they are not notable). I may not like neo-Nazis, but for slippery slope reasons I think they should be included if they meet the WP:BIO guidelines, just like the beauty pageant winners. well, I'll grumble quietly, but its sort of in the class of having half a page about Oregon talking about Buddhists in Oregon, it can be misleading, though technically not inaccurate, because the historic expectations are that editorial control will keep a balanced perspective.Rvannatta (talk) 02:47, 12 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Location Coordinates Are Wrong

I tried using the coordinates to see an aerial view and ended up looking at the wrong prison. I'll try to figure out how to correct them. Hopefully they don't need verifiability? If so I don't understand where the current ones came from. 75.95.47.110 (talk) 20:48, 15 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Looks like you got it fixed. I had not realized that there are two similar facilities, the Oregon State Correctional Institution, which is what I always thought was the Oregon State Penitentiary. The coordinates now all match the map data. Thanks. —EncMstr (talk) 21:19, 15 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Incorrect fact?

At the sentence "In October 1952, 300 prisoners took seven hostages and demanded a meeting with governor Adlai Stevenson. The hostages forced warden Jerome Munie to suspend 'shoot to kill' orders for the guards," information about an Oregon attempted escape seems to have been mixed up with information about about Illinois prison riots.
