  • It looks like there are other heights listed in the article. The Sports Illustrated article reports 7 ft 5 for example in its title (although technically slightly under that in the article itself). I would think if we were to feature a height hook with specific measurements we would need to address the discrepancies between sources in some fashion. The article should do that too. As it is, I don't think we can run this hook as is because of the differing measurements between sources. Otherwise the article is new enough, long enough, and within policy.4meter4 (talk) 21:32, 6 July 2024 (UTC)
    • @4meter4: Would saying "is at least 7 ft 3 in (2.21 m) tall" work? Everything on her seems to have that height or more (as with SI). BeanieFan11 (talk) 21:50, 6 July 2024 (UTC)
  • 4meter4, could you please respond to the query above? Schwede66 22:33, 11 July 2024 (UTC)
Schwede66 I asked for a second opinion at the DYK talk page two days ago. Still waiting to hear back from well anyone. I'm not comfortable with moving forward on this one without some additional input from others.4meter4 (talk) 22:35, 11 July 2024 (UTC)
Right; I missed that. BeanieFan11, I suggest that 4meter4 is correct and the article should discuss that sources differ, and list what various reliable sources give. Once done, your suggested hook alteration is fine. I've added this as ALT1 and struck ALT0. Schwede66 23:14, 11 July 2024 (UTC)
@Schwede66 and 4meter4: Does this addition address the concerns? BeanieFan11 (talk) 20:56, 13 July 2024 (UTC)
I’ve done two things. Firstly, the sources that have her at the least height all say "220 cm" and I’ve tweaked ALT1 accordingly. Secondly, I’ve amended the article lead to reflect that sources vary. With that, this should be good to go, but I’ll leave that to the reviewer. Schwede66 21:09, 13 July 2024 (UTC)
4meter4, is this good to go? Schwede66 08:43, 16 July 2024 (UTC)
As time is of the essence, I'll take over. It isn't how I would have done it (I would have used a notelist), but the way the article does it is fine. I note that WP:UPSD has China Daily in yellow, but I also note that WP:RSP says the source may be used "as a source for facts about non-political events in mainland China" and this isn't particularly contentious, so I'll take it, but have an extra source on speed dial just in case, belt and braces and all that. (And you might want to have a flick through QPQ check in the box on the right, because your 200th nomination this ain't.) Let's roll.--Launchballer 10:05, 17 July 2024 (UTC)
@BeanieFan11 and Schwede66: unless I'm missing something, Zhang is ineligible to play in the Olympics, meaning I can't see a reason this has been fast-tracked into the Olympics SOHA? It's not like we're lacking Olympics-related hooks. ~~ AirshipJungleman29 (talk) 19:22, 17 July 2024 (UTC)
Nobody is saying that she is going to the Olympics. What you are missing, AirshipJungleman29, is that you don't seem to have followed Wikipedia talk:Did you know#Olympic hooks table. Schwede66 19:33, 17 July 2024 (UTC)
The table says we don't have anything for that day but that's patently incorrect. I had followed the table, but I assumed that nominations put into the special Olympics holding area were related directly to the Olympics—that seems sensible, no? ~~ AirshipJungleman29 (talk) 19:41, 17 July 2024 (UTC)
I'll break it down for you a bit to make it easier to follow, AirshipJungleman29. Prep1 is for 24 July. That is the day when the first competitions start at the Olympics – football and rugby sevens according to the Olympic calendar. We do not have any nominations for football or rugby sevens. Hence, we are still running what I call "Olympic warm up" hooks. If you have a problem with this general principle, then this is the wrong place to bring this up; it should be discussed at Wikipedia talk:Did you know#Discussion on Olympics. Schwede66 20:02, 17 July 2024 (UTC)
But according to the table, some days are scheduled to have three Olympics-related hooks, which violates WP:DYKVAR. Why not allocate one of those hooks to go earlier, instead of nominations of indirectly-related athletes? ~~ AirshipJungleman29 (talk) 21:50, 17 July 2024 (UTC)
AirshipJungleman29, you appear to be asking questions that are fundamental to the process of what we are doing here. Therefore, this is the wrong place to have this discussion. If you'd like to see things done differently, please go to Wikipedia talk:Did you know#Discussion on Olympics. Schwede66 22:14, 17 July 2024 (UTC)
Once approved, please place this nomination in the Olympics: Special occasion holding area
