Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. If you can't type the tilde character, you should click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! -talk- the_ed17 -contribs- 13:54, 16 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
- (1) I did know. My failure to sign my comment was an oversight: thank you for drawing my attention to it.
- (2) What is "John Hancock"? From the context I guess it must be an American colloquial expression, perhaps meaning "signature". Is this so?

- No problem, it can't hurt to remind people!
- Yes, it is. See the articles John Hancock and Declaration of Independence (The expression comes from Hancock's "prominent" signature upon the Declaration).
- If you would like to let me know that you've left me a message on your talk page, use can use the {{talkback}} template (see the template for details on how to use it). =) If you have any other questions, feel free to ask away. Cheers, -talk- the_ed17 -contribs- 19:23, 16 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
