edit
  • Generally, German uses violett and lila synonymously for all blends of red and blue.
  • It is possible to distinguish between violett (violet), lila (lilac), and purpurn (purple). However, such a distinction is chiefly restricted to people interested in arts, fashion, and the like. The word purpurn, also purpurfarben, is not part of the general vocabulary.
