Meet the Flintstones is an upcoming American animated film produced by Warner Bros. Pictures Animation and distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures. Serving as an origin story of The Flintstones, it is written by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic.

Ideas for an animated Flintstones film began in May 2014 with Chris Henchy, Will Ferrell, and Adam McKay writing the script for the project. Plans for the film changed in June 2023 following development hell when Bill Damaschke announced the rebranding of Warner Animation Group into "Warner Bros. Pictures Animation".

Production[edit]

Background[edit]

In May 2014, it was announced that Warner Bros. Pictures was developing an animated Flintstones film with Chris Henchy, Will Ferrell, and Adam McKay attached to write the script for the project. Ferrell and McKay would also serve as executive producers.[1] In 2018, it was confirmed that the project was still in development and being produced by Warner Animation Group (WAG), at the time, it was unknown if crew members would still be involved with the production.[2]

Development[edit]

In June 2023, as part of the rebranding of WAG now called Warner Bros. Pictures Animation, it was announced that a new Flintstones film, titled Meet the Flintstones, serving as an origin story of the series was in early development, and will be written by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic.[3]
