attributed

[edit]

In the edit summary Frickeg disputed my use of the word attributed.

The definition for attributed: "regard something as being caused by."

I believe that I did use the word the right way.

Ryan died because he contracted pneumonia while campaigning in this by-election.

This by-election was triggered by Page's own death.

If Page hadn't died whilst still an MP, this by-election would have been avoided, there would be no campaigning from Ryan when he contracted and died from pnemonia.

Not to mention Australian politics would have been different if it weren't for this by-election. 49.3.72.79 (talk) 07:02, 15 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

That's a lot of ifs; it's far more encyclopedic to simply state the facts and let readers draw their own conclusions. And your use of "attributed" seemed to suggest that Ryan's death had somehow caused this by-election, when you were trying to say the reverse. Frickeg (talk) 10:09, 15 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
