What is this?

[edit]

What is the value of presenting these numbers and reporting "facts" about them when tens of thousands of ballots remain to be counted and the results won't be certified for at least another two weeks? See WP:CRYSTAL and WP:NOTNEWS. Wikipedia's coverage of elections in general already suffers from the mentality that we're here to be a dumping ground for election night news coverage instead of an accurate historical record (there is a difference). But wait, there's more!

John Coghill, the incumbent since 2009, is facing opposition in the Republican primary from Robert Myers Jr., who announced his candidacy for the seat on July 10.

Of what year? The filing deadline is June 1. If he announced his candidacy on July 10 of this year, he wouldn't have appeared on the ballot. RadioKAOS / Talk to me, Billy / Transmissions 14:13, 22 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
