Inappropriate "Press Opinions"

[edit]

I am moving the cherry-picked quotes to this page as they have been copied verbatim off the subject's official website and have no independent verification. However, they may be useful for editors doinf further reserach for sources. Note also that it is and promotional to have section of out-of-context quotes limited solely to praising the artist.

Anahit Mekhitarian is а light lyrical soprano with clear, bright, defined upper notes and convincing interpretations that enrich the audience with the evolution and development of phrasing observation. The singer possesses envious technique. Ms. Mekhitarian's voice is extremely fluent and flexible.

"Diaro De Noticias", Spain.

As they say in Italy “Una Donna Spolvereta". It feels like there is а theater expert both in the plastical movements and in the confident manner of greeting and being presented to public. There is а tremendous theatrical performance in her appearance and style. But these are not the only reasons to be attracted to this Armenian lady, she also has an incredibly pleasant, clear and fluent voice with unique tender inflection. The singer demonstrates а great capacity for coloratura.

"Scherzo" Musical journal, Madrid

The performance of Lucia at the Gayarre Theater was tremendous success, given first of all the great performance of' Anahit Mekhitarian. The winner of Gayarre-Carreras contest Anahit Mekhitarian, а soprano with great capacities to take high notes, possesses excellent proficiency. Her flawless, melodic voice is saturated and defined, fluent and clear at every register and breathtaking at high notes. In the scene where she portrays an insane person, Аnahit Mekhitarian shows extraordinary vocal proficiency. No doubt, she was the hero of this unforgettable evening. She largely attracted the audience and was treated with enormous greetings and applause. It was quite а night, if not of а full moon than definitely full of craziness specific to Bel Canto for Lucia. Indeed, an incredible Lucia.

"Diaro de Noticias" Daily, Spain.

"ANAHIT MEKHITARIAN, A SINGER of DIVINE VOICE" The voice glitterig like gold, exceptional range, modest and proud at the same time, so warm, mild and angelic – here is the talent of coloratura soргапо Anahit Mekhitarian. It is a magic moment, Anahit Mekhitarian sings Mayerbeer's "Dinora", her voice competes with the voice of а nightingale in love. Her voice is absolute, she has а brilliant style and а virtuoso vocal technique.

"L'orient le Jour", Lebanon

“AN UNEXPECTED NIGHTINGALE VISITING SEVILLE” Anahit Mekhitarian gained a deserved triumph. The Armenian Singer is endowed with a pleasant timbre, sound quality, well-determined technique and showing a splendid protuberance of performance accompanied by a impressive, spectacular flair for the ascending sharp and super sharp sound peaks, which appear with adequate strength and affinity. …she won applause and ovations deserved in passages of major virtuosity, particularly in the pieces by Donizetti.

"Diaro de Sevilla" Spain./Andres Moreno Mengibar/

“THE TRIUMPH OF NORMA IN THE BALSHOY THEATER” She sang “Casta Diva” so well that the performance was interrupted by the tremendously high applause of spectators. It was Anahit Mekhitarian, the holder of Grand Prix of three international contests taken place in Italy and Spain, who decorated the stage that evening. The spectators were extremely absorbed in the singing of “Casta Diva” not even trying to resist the charm of triumph.

I've removed this kind of stuff from the article at three times before ([1], [2], [3]), yet it keeps getting resored without explanation. CtP (tc) 17:40, 23 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, and I have removed it twice, and another editor has removed it as well. I am hoping the editor who keeps re-adding it takes the comments here on board, especially re the use of IPs to edit-war. If they don't I'm going to ask for semi-protection of this page. Voceditenore (talk) 07:20, 24 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Future editing

[edit]

I've re-written this article entirely as the previous version by another editor was a copyright violation - pasted verbatim from the subject's web site. Future editors, especially those who are affiliated in any way (personal or professional) with Anahit Mekhitarian must adhere to the following guidelines when editing it.

1. Before even starting to edit it again, please read Wikipedia:Conflict of interest and Wikipedia:Autobiography for guidance.
2. Wikipedia is not a newsletter or bulletin board. Avoid terms like "now", "soon", "currently" and "recently" which make the article both imprecise, and in many instances, quickly inaccurate. Instead, use expressions such as "as of 2009".
3. This is an encyclopedia article, not Ms. Mekhitarian's personal web site or curriculum vitae. All additions must be referenced to reliable sources. Unreferenced lists of where she has allegedly appeared, name-dropping lists of orchestras, conductors, etc. are entirely inappropriate and will be removed.
4. All additions must be neutrally worded and use encyclopedic tone and style. Any additions which can be perceived by a neutral reader as hype or PR will be removed immediately. See Wikipedia:Neutral point of view and Wikipedia:Avoid peacock terms for guidance.
5. Do not paste in text from your or anyone else's official websites, blogs etc. Apart from the almost invariably unsuitable promotional style, it is a copyright violation unless the sites explicitly display a public domain license. Further guidance can be found on the following pages. Please read them carefully:
6. Remember, that once you have written an article on Wikipedia, you no longer own it. It will always have to conform to Wikipedia's policies on content, style and formatting – not to the subject's desired image or marketing goals.

IP editors

[edit]

Do not edit while logged out to continue re-adding inappropriate material to this article which several other editors have removed. I am referring to the edits by 46.241.176.9, 178.78.152.131, 188.115.236.32, and 46.70.92.238, all of which trace back to Orange Telecommunications Armenia in Yerevan, and are almost certainly the same person. Repertoire

[edit]

Is there any particular need to have a complete list of the songs she performs? The information isn't sourced well and, in my opinion, ought to be condensed. CtP (tc) 00:02, 28 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

They're not songs, they're the roles she's sung in operas and the names of the operas. The specific role in is ( )'s after the italicised opera title. Repertoire lists are fairly common in opera singers' biographies here. See for example, Simon Keenlyside#Operatic roles. The big difference is that the Simon Keenlyside one is impeccably referenced. This one is not. It's entirely referenced to her official biography which is a primary source. I haven't cross-checked, but I suspect some of the roles listed are not even referenced by the primary source used. I've re-tagged the section for "primary sources". If no better references are forthcoming, it should probably be removed, but I'd give it a while. Given that virtually her whole stage career has been with the Armenian State Opera, either at Yerevan or on tour with the company, sourcing may be quite arduous. Big opera companies like the Metropolitan Opera or La Scala have extensive online performance archives which can be used to source such lists, but I doubt if the the Armenian State Opera does. I couldn't find them. Voceditenore (talk) 08:08, 28 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

List dumps

[edit]

I see that the article's creator (and the associated IPs) have been gradually re-dumping long lists of every city and country in which she has allegedly appeared. These are uninformative, unencyclopedic, unreferenced, and pure PR. I have condensed this considerably and tagged the whole section with {{refimprove}}. Any further attempts to add this material will be promptly removed. Once again: This is an encyclopedia article, not Anahit Mekhitarian's personal website or curriculum vitae. Removal of maintenance tags

[edit]

Please do not remove the maintenance tags without rectifying the problem. The entire repertoire section is referenced solely to Anahit Mekhitarian's official biography. That is a primary source. It is not independent of the article's subject. The life and career section still contains numerous unsourced statements and assertions, from the name of her husband, to the "Honoured Artist" award, to the list of concert halls and theatres it is claimed that she has performed in. And, no, her own biography is not an adequate source. I have restored both tags. If the IP-hopping editor who keeps making these inappropriate edits doesn't stop this I'm going to ask for page protection. Please spend your time finding reliable published sources which are independent of the subject rather than removing the tags.Voceditenore (talk) 16:31, 1 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
