  • A quick note RE the request for a citation on the statement "Eden was involved in the Second Boer War, having been sent there to join his regiment immediately following his campaign in Ashanti.", Eden is documented as having led the charge on Kumasi (15/07/1900), and is then further documented as being in South Africa in 1901. Given that travel back to England would have taken approx. 1 month one way, and travel to England then back to South Africa would be 2 months together, and then any time spent in England further adding to this, it would appear that he was sent straight to the Second Boer War. The photograph albums held by the National Army museum also support this, as the Nigeria - Ashanti album is referenced as being "Nigeria and Ashanti, 1899-1901" and the South Africa album is listed as being "South African War 1901-1902". This indicates no gap between the two theatres. Vexed Cassidy (talk) 10:47, 7 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
