Bisharin→Bishari

[edit]

I've had the page Bisharin tribe moved to Bishari tribe. In the reasons for the move, I gave the reason, & said I'd list contemporary academic sources that use either Bishari or the Beja spelling Bishaari. I have only listed sources in which "Bishari" or "Bishaari" occurs within English text: Not older grammars and dictionaries that note the autochthonous term. I have marked with an asterisk afterward works in which both "Bishari" and "Bishariyyin" appear.

  • Wedekind, Klaus, and Charlotte Wedekind and Abuzeinab Musa. A Learner's Grammar of Beja (East Sudan). Cologne: Rüdiger Köppe Verlag, 2007.
  • Vanhove, Martine. Le Bedja. Leuven: Peeters, 2017. (*)
  • Hudson, R.A. "A Grammatical Study of Beja." (PhD Diss., University of London, 1964) (*)
  • Appleyard, David L. "Beja Morphology" in Morphologies of Asia and Africa: Volume 1. edited by Alan S. Kaye, 447–479. Winona Lake: Eisenbrauns, 2007.
  • Blažek, Václav. "Beja Lexicostatistics." Lingua Posnaniensis. 55, no. 1 (2013): 21-35.

There are, of course, many scholarly sources that use Bisharin. I believe that most of these are from the early 20th century or earlier, or are secondary sources working from those earlier materials. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pathawi (talkcontribs) 16:09, 20 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
