Operations history

IMO what this article still needs before a WP:GA nomination is some details on operations history: something general about its operation as test locomotive (mostly brake locomotive in tests of newer Adtranz/Bombardier products as I understand), its leasings to railways for revenue traffic, and eventual retirement. (Currently, the two sentences and the Infobox line on this is the only unsourced info in the article.) There are such details in the German version of the article, but completely unsourced; the page on the railcolor site currently in the External links section includes additional but sketchy data. I plan to look into this, but if anyone already has sources at hand better suited for Wikipedia than photo captions, please come forard :-) --Rontombontom (talk) 11:28, 19 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I think this needs extensive clarification, or better actual content in the relevant articles - eg "Re 460" only mentions Lok 2000", whereas the only mention I found of "Eco 2000" was in DBAG Class 101 which only mentions using Class 120 bodys. I'm not convinced the statement is true - most sources describe the Eco2000 as a Henschel(Kassel)/ABB design, and the Lok2000 as a SLM/ABB design - and don't remember anything that makes a linke between Re460 and Eco2000.Sf5xeplus (talk) 18:22, 24 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Upon checking, my sources (the article on the introduction of the Eco 2000 and the one on the premiere of the Class 101) only say that 'components proved themselves' in the Lok 2000/Re 460, but also mention others (the 120 004 and 005 which are already mentioned in the article, and the DSB Class EA, presumably second batch). The key BBC/ABB components carried on from the Lok 2000 are the GTO thyristor based converters (previously a world's first from BBC), the motors, and the control system.
Note that ABB and Henschel merged into ABB-Henschel already in the year before the Lok 2000 deliveries stared.
I think the Re 460 deserves a See also link, but I agree to leaving it out until I find a quote-able source with something more definite. (That may take time; currently I'm trying to track down the history of the electronics in the FS Class E412 and E464.) --Rontombontom (talk) 19:22, 24 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Probably better to link a short list of contemporary locomotives, other three phase prototypes, and maybe successors then, and leave the extended info to the relavent articles. You're probably better qualified to do this than me.Sf5xeplus (talk) 20:08, 24 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
As ones with relevance (GTO) and not mentioned in the article, I can only think of the Lok 2000 ancestors (Re 456 operated by a number of Swiss private railways, no English Wiki article yet; SBB-CFF-FFS Re 450), the SBB Re 460 derivates (NSB El 18 and VR Class Sr2, which represent no change in technology; and the more advanced BLS Re 465, which is included in the Re 460 article), the EuroSprinter ancestor RENFE Class 252, ÖBB's Class 1012 (converter is Siemens's though other electrical components from ELIN; no English Wikipedia article yet), ÖBB Class 1822 (electronics and running gear from the ABB line; no English Wikipedia article yet). The lack of articles to link to and/or lack of noteworthiness in terms of technological development around the 12X's time is why I thought that the Re 460 and EuroSprinter suffice. --Rontombontom (talk) 21:16, 24 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
