The current article (3/9/06) is all wrong and filled with mis-information! --SPM1 05:33, 10 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The picture of the 1973 "Mach 1" convertible is interesting...Ford never offered a Mach 1 convertible in any year, let alone 1973. This is a standard Mustang with Mach 1-style striping. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.149.10.170 (talk) 23:18, 23 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed, I will see what I can do with this article when I get time. If someone jumps on it before me, so be it... Feedloadr 16:46, 3 June 2006 (UTC) Feedloadr[reply]

Verification Please

[edit]

I will be cutting some things out from the article I have doubts on and want verification before it is put back in the Article. Heck I may leave it in the article for a bit before removal.

1. "In fact, it broke the world speed record for Fastest Production Car in 1969."

Also

[edit]

I would like someone to condense the 2003/04 Mach 1 section to pertain more to MACH 1. Currently it has 2 long paragraphs talking about mustang and SVT and one long and one short paragraph about the Mach 1. Doesn't make sense to have more info about the mustang when there is one on just Mustang, when this focuses on the Mach 1 model.

and

[edit]

One last note, most the work on this topic I have done after getting off work and after work my mind isn't exactly sharp. Please forgive typos and such, hopefully I will check back over it later when I am more awake and refreshed an fix my errors.

I need to reference most of what I have on here, I do intend on doing such, just haven't got there yet. Bite me if you don't like it. Nobody else jumped into fixxing this clusterf**k of an article, so I did, and I will work at my pace gosh darnet. If you do need to know, hit me up.

I am rambling now, I worked all night...I'm out. Feedloadr 13:33, 11 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Breakdown of Info

[edit]

This is an afterthought after posting my above post. I forgot to mention it. I was wondering if anyone thought it would be better to instead of have a Popular engines at the end, have a subtopic at the end of the topic/section of engine info. Or perhaps instead have a chart with CI, HP, tq, barrel and year for the engines... either Feedback on the first option or just doing the second one would be great....Thanks... Engine Size incorrect

[edit]

The Engine sizes listed were wrong in one regard. A 4.6L SOHC engine was in the list. This was never in production for the Mach 1. I own a 2003 Mach 1 and the engine is a 4.6L DOHC, with 4 valve per cylinder. This is a design very similar to the Cobra Engine, however it is naturally aspirated. I have changed the SOHC comment at the bottom to DOHC and left it at that.

This is factually correct now.

Drop the Cleanup?

[edit]

If we can get some referances set up in this article, I'd like to see the cleanup tag droped. The quality of the article has increased substantially since the tag addition (though still having tons more potential), but with one glaring problem...The lack of referances. I'll get the book (or books) I've got my info from to list, if others who have added will also put thiers in. ThanksFeedloadr 06:18, 6 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Agree that the cleanup tag should be droppped unless anyone has specific suggestions on what remains to be done. Lrh442 (talk) 18:43, 31 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I wasn't even born when this car was launched and I don't care about it at all, but I've just corrected a pretty massive and obvious mistake that's presumably been present for the last seven years. With this kind of process it would probably be best to give up on the idea of a standalone article; just whittle it down to "Ford also launched a Mach 1 performance option, which was sold between the X and Y model years (reference)", merge it into Ford Mustang and delete it. -Ashley Pomeroy (talk) 18:50, 10 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

2004 Horsepower & Torque

[edit]

For 2004 the factory horsepower and torque specifications were unchanged from 2003. Although it was widely rumored that the factory specs would be increased for the 2004 model due to the supposed underrating of the 2003 model, the official specs from Ford did not change. The article currently incorrectly shows different specs for 2004. I will edit to correct this unless someone elese cares to do so. Lrh442 16:49, 24 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ford Mustang Mach 1

[edit]

To Anybody out there: In the September issue of the Auto Trader, Classic and Antique edition, I fell over a picture of a Mach I station wagon. I have never seen or even heard of such a vehicle. Can anyone out there confirm whether Mach 1 built a station wagon or if this is some kind of customization. Thank you.

                                                                       jwood7@telus.net Rita Wood 75.156.130.1 (talk) 23:31, 30 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Incorrect photo

[edit]

In regards to the image "'71 Ford Mustang Mach 1 (Auto classique Pointe-Claire '11).JPG"

The chrome grille surround renders it highly questionable whether this customized '71/72 Mustang began its life as a Mach 1. At any rate, it's a horrible representation of how any of these cars were delivered from factory, and does not belong here. Cudak888 (talk) 14:10, 19 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Second generation?

[edit]

Seems as if the Gen 1 Facelift section should be relabelled "Second Generation". If not why not? - Snori (talk) 06:14, 26 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
