Redirect to 飛輪

[edit]

This edit was marked as vandalism, but it may have been an attempted interwiki link: 飛輪 means "flywheel" (literally, "air gear") in Chinese, according to one online translator. --Old Moonraker (talk) 07:32, 28 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding the illustration: Proposal for possible error correction + clarification

[edit]

Aren't the labels on the illustration wrong? from my understanding of the schematic the labels "Free" and "Engaged" should be switched if they refer to the rotation of the outer unit. Furthermore the illustration clarity would benefit from showing the inner axle recesses along the lines of the illustration here: http://www.saabenthusiasts.co.uk/articles/V4-Page1.htOm — Preceding unsigned comment added by Landofthesamp (talkcontribs) 14:50, 13 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Edit: perhaps I misinterpreted the illustration to mean that the red rollers? were attached to the springs. Nonetheless, I believe it would enhance comprehension if it was clarified what components are fixed in relation to each other, and what are rotating and in what direction. Also, it would be nice with a bicycle example where it is indicated which parts are attached to the chain and which to the hub. Finally, it would great with a cartoon like splitting of the illustration displaying each mode of operation separately - and perhaps a animation like in the article about ratchets. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Landofthesamp (talkcontribs) 18:00, 13 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Engine braking

[edit]

In the context of engine overrun, for some reason http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Overrun directs to 'freewheel'

Overrun, the condition of a vehicle travelling without throttle, see freewheel

But really it should redirecting elsewhere since 'engine overrun' is nothing to do with freewheel gears (since it is describing a vehicle which is NOT freewheeling, but is in gear without the throttle being depressed). 80.176.229.143 (talk) 14:39, 24 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Diagram not clear

[edit]

The Freewheel mechanism diagram is not very clear. I don't understand at all what parts are fixed to what parts. That is pretty much all you need to know to understand how the mechanism works. Option 1 :It would help a lot to put numbers in the parts and in the description below the image assign names to the numbers, so as to not clutter the image with words. Then in the description tell wich parts are fixed to what. Option 2 (hard): do a gif showing how it works, that would be inmediate understandment of how that mechanism works, it would be awesome.
