Mrs. Hernandez and her Husband

House places the paternity of her children into dispute by saying that she and her husband cannot have blue eyed children. Yet it is the opposite way around, as two blue eyes recessive carriers with brown eyes are more than capable of having blue eyed children. Might be worth placing this down as a medical error. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Pottski (talkcontribs)

More eye colors

[edit]

House mention that he both sees blue and green eyes on the pictures. That would be slightly more unlike (If one parent has a dominant brown and recessive blue allele, and the other has a dominant brown and recessive green allele, chance are the kids would have brown (at least one brown allele present) or green (green allele dominates, blue is recessive). But not blue (which would have required two blue genes). That's the model on which - I think - the writers based their reasoning. Of course, House could as well also be telling a lie just to force her confess.

In reality the genetics behind eye colour are slightly more subtle (The wikipedia article cites at least 3 genes). And the children could have some grey eye colour that would look both greenish and blueish depending on the individuals. —Preceding unsigned comment added by DrYak (talkcontribs) 03:47, 2 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
