Since the Emblem in the article is confirmed as non-canonical within the article itself, why is it still up there? This is an article about the House Harkonnen from the Dune universe, not a playable race from a video game. Qa Plar 16:32, 28 October 2006 (UTC)

I've never seen or played any of the Dune games, but I think you can argue that though they're not canon, they're derivative works (and usually mentioned in the articles) and so the emblems aren't entirely inappropriate as long as it's made clear that they're from the games. All of the Houses have the video game emblems in the articles and I think it definitely makes them more visually appealing and uniform. Anyway, the character photos from various adaptations could technically be considered non-canon as well, since their appearance and clothing don't necessarily match Herbert's descriptions (he wrote that Irulan was blonde, Feyd was a brunet, Mohiam always wore plain black robes, etc.) TAnthony 16:40, 28 October 2006 (UTC)

Given that it's a visual representation of an emblem attributed to House Harkonnen, and that no official representation of the blue griffon appears to exist, I say leave it. In a related note, wouldn't the fact that the "ram" has a ring through its nose and has horns like a bull suggest that the artists went with the "Iron bull" idea and that the mention of it being a ram should be changed? Didn't Feyd Rautha Harkonnen have an illegitimate unknown baby girl with Lady Margot Fenring? It says so in the original Dune book and Paul's ghola remembers in Hunters of Dune that Count Fenring tried to kill him in his original life in order to have the daughter of Feyd and Margot ascend to the throne of the Emperor (or in this case Empress) of the Known Universe.--190.10.0.57 (talk) 01:23, 20 June 2008 (UTC)

This tree presents a problem to us: Ulf Harkonnen, father of dynasty Harkonnen ( he is the first time that he mentions this surname in all the saga Dune ), died according to this family tree, in the year 217 A.C, and his son Piers ( main character of our adventure "Hunting Harkonnens" ) was born on the 236 A.C. These data are not right ; Or else Ulf Harkonnen did not dead in that date but some years later, or his son Piers was born before the deadline. I will reason my doubts. In story "Hunting Harkonnens", Piers Harkonnen has twenty one years old . If he was born, as it has told to himself previously, in the year 236 A.C, the story would make progress toward the year 215 A.C. However, his father Ulf Harkonnen appears in this story. If he died in the 217 A.C, that is 2 years before,¿How could he take part in our adventure? Pitifully, we do not count on a lot of bigger information that it help somebody solve our unknown quantity. In "Hunting Harkonnens", Ulf Harkonnen explains to his son Piers than his brother Xabier " It Is Too young to be the successor Harkonnen...", Naturally that is possible right now than he informs us in the family tree than Xabier Harkonnen was born in the year 223 A.C. what takes to think that to us Xabier was having 8 years when our story was developing and this agrees with the description that he is too young but there is not a indication on the date in the one that it passes in the events told in Hunting Harkonnens.We can think than, if the novel Hunting Harkonnens is a text published un-officially ( appear as The Road departs from the book To Dune ), that the dates are not exact and the fact that these have gone away modifying and validating in the fiction published officially.

I think you're forgetting that these dates are B.G. or Before Guild, so they run backwards, counting down to the Guild creation date. So 236 B.G. occurs first, and 217 later.— TAnthony^Talk 19:23, 6 September 2009 (UTC)

I do not speak very well inglish and maybe I have not known how to express myself. I'm coming to include a little drawing. If Piers was born on year - 236 BG, in the story hunting Harkonnens says than piers he has 21 years. So than, the story begins in the year - 215 BG. Ulf and Katarina appear in the story. This means that in the year - 215 BG even were living . But here said than died both in the year - 217 BG, then died 2 years before on - 215 BG. It looks like someone did make a typo, the timeline on the official site (referenced in other articles) notes Piers's birth year as 238. I've made the change and cited it. Thanks!— TAnthony^Talk 20:42, 7 September 2009 (UTC)
