Tamgaly vs Tamgaly Tas

[edit]

Untitled

[edit]

Tamgaly Tas is a site on the Ili with Tibetan Buddhist carvings, not to be confused with the Tamgaly world heritage site. Both are covered separately on Russian Wikipedia, and I can confirm that they are in completely different directions from Almaty, where I live, as I have been to both! For this reason I intend to remove the link from this page, and hope to create a page for Tamgaly Tas in English in August. Harlandski (talk) 14:58, 27 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

"Shimmering"

[edit]

is probably wrong since ilansu doesn't seem to be a Mongolian word but (a) it might be an older form of a modern Mongolian term and (b) even if it turns out to be entirely mistaken it's worth noting and debunking that since several regional sources appear to share the idea. — LlywelynII 13:50, 7 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
