Translations

[edit]

Both this article and the Swedish Wikipedia article say that the book has been translated into over 20 languages, but where do we find a source for this? Johan Norberg's website has a page showing covers of translated editions [1], but it's not up to date. For example, it doesn't mention the Russian or Mongolian (I kid you not!) translations (these were mentioned on Norberg's blog [2][3]). Johan Norberg's news page [4] says "the total number of translations published and planned [my bold] is 27." Tamino (talk) 15:52, 7 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I would suggest that since no source has been provided for the figure 20 languages, that part of the article be changed so that it reflects what can be verified through sources. One possible phrasing could include the language versions shown on Norberg's website, including Russian and Mongolian. This will give a lower number, and this should be made clear in the article. Just make sure that this is sourced (for example using the languages page and permanent blog post links from Norberg's website). Sarnalios (talk) 22:57, 7 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sounds sensible. Interestingly, I've just found an article that mentions in passing that the book has been translated into 25 languages. Tamino (talk) 22:04, 8 January 2008 (UTC) Correction: "over 25 languages". Tamino (talk) 22:04, 8 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Nominated for deletion

[edit]

Author's subject biography is nominated for deletion, on the basis of failing to meet criteria of notability. Further, as far as this particular article is concerned, a Cato publication -- or any think tank publication, for that matter -- generally doesn't merit its own article as it's essentially a privately-funded publication, not an academic or even a commercial publication.
