Density

[edit]

I realize that the casual browsing type is likely to look at this page, but even still it needs to be condensed and made more accessible.RSido 03:49, 11 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think listing the runestones like this makes the runestones more accessible to the reader. It can of course be improved by providing images and more information on the individual runestones and/or making subpages. Each stone has a 1000 year old story and is often a real work of art.--Berig 07:59, 11 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sö 173

[edit]

Sö 173 is listed here and is also in the Viking runestones article at Sö 173. The inscription clearly refers to the Ingvar expedition and the Viking runestones article discusses this, so the Sö 173 section on the Viking runestones article should probably be deleted to avoid duplication and inconsistent information. Runes in Unicode

[edit]

I wonder if it would be appropriate to write the original script, runes, in the article, when writing the stone content. For example the Gripsholm stone Sö 179 contains:

ᛏᚢᛚᛅ : ᛚᛁᛏ : ᚱᛅᛁᛋᛅ : ᛋᛏᛅᛁᚾ : ᚦᛁᚾᛋ ᛅᛏ : ᛋᚢᚾ : ᛋᛁᚾ : ᚼᛅᚱᛅᛚᛏ : ᛒᚱᚢᚦᚢᚱ : ᛁᚾᚴᚢᛅᚱᛋ : ᚦᛅᛁᛦ : ᚠᚢᚱᚢ : ᛏᚱᛁᚴᛁᛚᛅ : ᚠᛁᛅᚱᛁ : ᛅᛏ : ᚴᚢᛚᛁ : ᛅᚢᚴ : ᛅ:ᚢᛋᛏᛅᚱᛚᛅᚱ ᚾᛁ : ᚴᛅᚠᚢ : ᛏᚢᚢ : ᛋᚢᚾᛅᚱ:ᛚᛅ : ᛅᛋᛁᚱᚴ:ᛚᛅᚾ:ᛏᛁ

Some computers can't show this, instead showing squares only. But other can get runes, and readers can then compare them to the stone images. Can we include the runes with a note that some browsers can't display this correctly?--BIL (talk) 19:35, 3 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
