I'm worried about this article- it's poorly written and seems to have almost no sources for information that really isn't relavant to a biographical article. I'm going to remove a lot of information that's unsourced, and try to add where I can with information from the New Paltz wiki, WikiPaltz. But I don't think the edit war over his page there is relevant to his page here, because from what I remember he wasn't any of the people engaged in the edit war. But somebody who's read his book and/or has more information on him should probably edit. Nicole Javaly 21:20, 25 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have deleted 2 paragraphs with information that can not be verified. One paragraph states that West received support from small businesses and tenants, not just students.

1) There is no way to verify that small business owners voted ofr West. Many small business owners voted for Nyquist, who had been mayor for many years.

2) Most of the tenants are SUNY New Paltz students, It is misleading to write "not only students, but tenants.

The other paragraph described West's campaign, and mentioned predatory corporations. It seem that you are not merely quoting West, but expressing a negative opinion of corporations. Furthermore, the New Paltz Village board and mayor has never been pro-corporation. Most of the businesses in the village are owned by local people. Exceptions are the drugstores, Starbucks, gas stations and supermarket. Np365 16:37, 22 October 2006 (UTC)NP365[reply]

I'd like to see some sources regarding his pay increases. If someone doesn't back them up this week, I will delete that information. I cannot find it anywhere. "Weasel words" indeed. Unless someone can back it up.--Laikalynx 15:06, 28 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have concerns about this article with respect to the notability of the individual. Even if he can be construed as notable, the article seems far too long and too detailed (for instance, is the item concerning Mr. West having gone to work as a bartender after being voted out of office really encyclopedia-worthy?). Also, there is a lot of material with no cited sources to accompany it. It seems to me that the unsourced material should be deleted. Does anyone agree? Disagree?
