Shouldn't this be called Jeld-Wen rather than JELD-WEN, per wikipedia's capitalisation policy? --Falcadore (talk) 07:41, 10 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I believe so, because I've been unable to find any proof that it's an acronym or anything other than a stylistic choice. Somno (talk) 08:01, 10 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

V8 Supercar Sponsorship

[edit]

Jeld-Wen previously sponsored the #4 James Courtney Ford. Courtney has left the team and here is the announcement of the replacement driver and sponsor for the #4 Ford. --Falcadore (talk) 09:35, 15 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Falcadore. Does this mean they no longer sponsor anyone in the Stone Brothers Racing Team at all? Somno (talk) 08:35, 16 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
They may retain a low level of sponsorship somewhere but naming rights on the teams three cars belong to Irwin Tools (Davison), SP Tools (Van Gisbergen) and Fujitsu (Bright). Is a minor sponsorship (which may or may not exist) really worth mentioning?

Requested move 2011

No consensus to move. Vegaswikian (talk) 01:38, 23 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Jeld-WenJELD-WEN — JELD-WEN is in fact an acronym and the article title should reflect this. According to JELD-WEN, "Jeanette Coughlin thought of the name JELD-WEN, an acronym for the names of Dick's [JELD-WEN's founder's] immediate family, and a shortened version of Wendt [his last name]" (http://www.jeld-wen.com/about-jw/overview/history). Seenorimagined (talk) 03:15, 16 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The capitalized version does not seem right. Their website URL uses lowercase, and their radio and television advertisements pronounce the name as words, not as acronyms. Scuba began as an acronym, but widespread use as a word has led to recapitalization. I think this largely applies to Jeld-Wen. —EncMstr (talk) 05:32, 16 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I'd suggest centralizing this discussion. Since there are probably more eyeballs (and certainly more replies) at Talk:Jeld-Wen Field, convene over there? tedder (talk) 05:34, 16 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose there is no indication that this is an acronym in the article. Further the source doesn't even tell you what the acronym is, so it's an acronym of nothing. Further, if "WEN" is a shortened version of "Wendt", then that portion is an abbreviation, and does not need capitalization. 64.229.100.45 (talk) 06:01, 16 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Name Meaning

[edit]

After holding a family contest to name the farm, Dick’s cousin Jeanette Coughlin thought of the name JELD-WEN, an acronym for the names of Dick’s immediate family, and a shortened version of Wendt. NO Customer Service

[edit]

I’d just like to comment that I received 9 delay notices for my door order. When it finally arrived, it was so damaged that it could not be installed. No apologies, nothing! 2600:100E:B03A:DD77:45D0:2F63:D943:576A (talk) 23:55, 7 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
