Exploring article title change

[edit]

Agree article title is clunky. Per parent article, this incident was actually the second suicide attack at this mall during the wave of such incidents in the early 2000s.

Parent article goes “1st” and “2nd” attack, which I think bears some importance merely because of the double targeting of one location in a single year. However, I think previous editor changes were going in the right direction with positioning of date (and reformatting of date styling).

That said, the bigger issue that needs to be addressed is general naming conventions across the category. Suicide bombings are a profoundly different category of conflict action than traditional bombings, and it seems to warrant a deeper discussion about preserving the inclusion of that in the title before simplifying it down to just a “bombing” (especially when there have been traditional bombings deployed in this particular conflict).

The double redundancy of the “suicide” usage in the article I think can be finessed. That said, probably best to start a new talk topic on the parent article and take this separate point from there.
