Hometowns

[edit]

There is presently no reference for anyone's hometown, and they diverge from the city listed during confessionals during their seasons. They also quite often differ from the Wikipedia pages for the individual seasons. I think for simplicity's sake they should all follow whichever city was listed on their confessional. For example, Morgan McMichael's hometown is listed as "Mira Loma, CA" in S2 and as "Los Angeles, CA" in AS3. I'm not sure where "Loch Lomond, Scotland, UK" came from. Is there consensus to use the city listed during their confessionals? Umimmak (talk) 03:54, 15 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • I would be fine with cities listed in the confessionals, but there must me a series of newspaper articles for each season listing each contestant and their hometown. I just haven't been able to find that.--Found5dollar (talk) 21:06, 19 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

2 major issues

[edit]

hi All, there are 2 major issues with this article that need addressing. I can make the changes my self but want to make sure the is consensus before I do. they are:

  1. The colors used to denote "returned to the competition" and "Miss Congeniality" do not conform to accessibility guidelines for colorblind users. Green and Red should never be used to show information as they are indistinguishable to some users. per Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Accessibility#Color and Help:Using colours#Schemes for color-blind readers I suggest switching the green for "returned to the competition" to a shade of blue.
  2. the horizontal rows stating the season breaks the usage of the table. When sorting any column it is now impossible to tell what season any contestant was on. This change was instituted in 2018 with this edit. I suggest going back to how it was before where each contestant has listed the season they were on. This follows the format of multiple featured lists of tv show contestants including List of Survivor (American TV series) contestants, List of American Idol finalists, List of The Apprentice (American TV series) candidates, List of Big Brother (American TV series) houseguests, and List of Project Runway contestants.

"referred to as" notes

[edit]

This list has so many "referred to as" notes. Are these really necessary?

Can this not just be a list of contestants as they are known on the show? ---Another Believer (Talk) 15:16, 26 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Very much agree on this. It seems unnecessary and it's flooding the notes section. Thijslandsmeer (talk) 11:39, 14 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Thijslandsmeer Thanks. I've removed many of the "referred to as" notes, which were unnecessary. I left those which explain how some queens changed names between iterations of the show, in order to avoid confusion. ---Another Believer (Talk) 14:41, 19 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Dominikcapuan: Please do not add back unnecessary "referred to as" notes to this list or others. Noting when contestants' names have changed on the show is helpful for avoiding confusion, but otherwise we don't need to know every queens' other names. ---Another Believer (Talk) 00:10, 21 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Another Believer: I personally thought this was good information, since this designation has been included for other competitors on various franchises, but if it is not deemed appropriate I will not hesitate to RB all my recent edits. Dominikcapuan (talk) 00:13, 21 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Oh wait it was just referring to this table, my mistake :) Dominikcapuan (talk) 00:14, 21 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Miss Congeniality

[edit]

It seems like there may need to be a standard set for which Miss Congenialities are noted since some are more official than others. They seem to fall into three categories that are decreasingly "official": those announced on the show, those announced on official social media, and those announced by other means (like a reunion podcast or by other media entities). At the moment the first two categories are included. Noahp2 (talk) 21:25, 17 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Golden Boot

[edit]

Do we need/want to display the Golden Boot recipient? ---Another Believer (Talk) 18:54, 11 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Is this really a list?

[edit]

This might sound like a dumb thing, but this article doesn't really feel like it's a list. It's all split up in multiple sections for the different franchises. And while that is a great way to have an overview, it looks like it's just the "Contestants" sections copied over from all the Drag Race seasons' pages. Might it be a good idea to merge all of the contestants into one list/table, in alphabetical order, where the seasons competed in are mentioned in a separate column? This way you have just one (sortable) list, without double names, for example people competing in All Stars or multiple seasons of Drag Race.

Please give some input for this, or reasoning why this wouldn't work at all! This is just an idea. Thijslandsmeer (talk) 11:51, 14 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Strongly oppose a single list. ---Another Believer (Talk) 14:44, 19 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

"Original placement(s)" columns

[edit]

I propose removing the "Original placement(s)" column (see RuPaul's Drag Race: UK vs. the World, for example) because this is redundant info. Readers can find original placements elsewhere on the page if interested. ---Another Believer (Talk) 00:37, 15 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Making easier to view

[edit]

Can we please separate all the franchises in the main article instead of doing “domestic” then “international”. Allowing each franchise to start all collapsed to begin (showing like how they currently do in the table of contents tab), then able to expand the specific one you’re interested in would be much easier to read and scroll through. Especially considering how many international franchises there are now, both editing or viewing some countries is quite a feat on both mobile and laptops. Would this be a good idea? ---AbeBroFez (Talk) 04:10, 27 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
