Aren't awards Akhiljaxxn (talk) 02:32, 12 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I have warned you for your blatant disruptive edits, and they are all awards. —IB [ Poke ] 06:23,o9 12 December 2016 (UTC)
I support IndianBio's point of view. By definition, the "Hall of Fame" is an award (not only by Madonna's page but for all the list from an artist). Apoxyomenus (Diskussion) 06:29, 12 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Apoxyomenus Some days ago u supported to delete these honors from List of awards and nominations received by Michael Jackson why this double standard now? Akhiljaxxn (talk) 06:49, 12 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Put differences and show where Apoxyomenus did that, Akhiljaxxn. —IB [ Poke ] 06:51, 12 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
U can see that here [1]

Akhiljaxxn (talk) 06:56, 12 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

If you're talking about this edition about Cornerstonepicker's comment following my reply was different. He mentioned about lists and polls critics that aren't awards. Maybe I don't specified about Hollywood Walk of Fame that is an award. Apoxyomenus (Diskussion) 06:58, 12 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
You have got your answer now Akhiljaxxn, now please cease to comment. —IB [ Poke ] 06:59, 12 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry my bad i thought he romved hwf and rhw from the list ,but Rolling stone award, forbes, cnn , he removed these awards from the list and it was not a poll it was awarded by the specific magazins not in a public poll Akhiljaxxn (talk) 07:23, 12 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Those are all online polls, I verified the content he removed. If Rolling Stone was giving something like the Billboard Women in Music, that would have been an award. However, Madonna being called the greatest act on the Dance Club Songs bu Billboard, is not an award, and is not listed here. —IB [ Poke ] 07:27, 12 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

So u r saying Forbes annualy declaring Their most earned deceased celebrities list by conducting a poll? Akhiljaxxn (talk) 07:36, 12 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Akhiljaxxn you're mixing one thing with other. Take note that IB said about those lists. Regarding that Forbes (or related) are most a title that they didn't give a trophy or create a ceremony about that. Some cases like the Billboard Artist of the Decade is most a title but they received a trophy, like Madonna. It's doesnt makes sense, includes every poll like the VH1 100 Pop Icons, Slant Magazine Best 100 Albums of All-time, Rolling Stone 100 Greatest Artists of all-time (Are just lists). Those things, should be includes but in their respective articles, not here. Apoxyomenus (Diskussion) 07:48, 12 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Madonna didn't receive the GLAAD Excellence in Media Award

[edit]

Hello everybody,

It appears that Madonna never received the GLAAD Excellence in Media Award. I had added that information a few years ago based on an interview given to Advocate in 1991 but the GLAAD confirmed to me that no such award was given to her. I have an e-mail from them but I don't know if it's enough to qualify as a justification to remove it.

Thank you for your help, Amzer (talk) 14:00, 3 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Structure

[edit]

Currently this article has a lot of sections with the same header level. It would be easier to navigate if awards were grouped together. --Palnatoke (talk) 14:04, 26 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Newsflash, everything in this page is awards. What exactly is the point of your edit? —IB [ Poke ] 14:10, 26 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
#Notes, #References, and #External links do no quite fit that description. --Palnatoke (talk) 14:26, 26 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
My $0.02: currently, I think the list is best structured as-is. Additional headers and groupings would only make things unnecessarily complicated imo. Carbrera (talk) 01:31, 4 June 2018 (UTC).[reply]

@Apoxyomenus:, if you find any other missing awards, please list here. I'm planning to update this page with the new WP:FL format. Best regards :) Bluesatellite (talk) 06:12, 27 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I once read that Madonna never displays awards in her house, unlike most celebrities. She never really keeps her trophies, and many of them even went to auctions. But I forgot where I read this lol Bluesatellite (talk) 00:11, 10 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, @Bluesatellite:. Ping didn't work for your first message :D. I don't wanna downgrade the quality of this list, but if you agree adding New York Music Awards or Japan Record Awards I could help. I think those have had notability (at least they have a wiki-article and some trophies given to Madonna). I know there is more "trophies" not mentioned here, but sources usually aren't the best and don't have notability or maybe only locally.
I recently read (I don't have a ref available now) in a Czech portal/newspaper that they tried to give her certifications obtained in that country (ca. 2005) but they said she usually doesn't pay attention in awards or something like that as far I understood. World Music Awards also told that they didn't give "special awards" to Madonna because her agenda (she's always on tour, eg) while appears that they require artist's presence to the ceremony. Billboard once said (1990): After six years of megastardom, Madonna has won just two minor American Music Awards. The likely reason: Madonna seems to polarize audiences, and these awards tend to favor artists with broadbased support Regards --Apoxyomenus (talk) 06:15, 12 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

You're very welcome to edit this page, Apoxyomenus. Those awards you listed above definitely worth added here. I just need to gain mood or time to add these awards right now, lol. There're a lot of missing awards compared to the one in Spanish Wikipedia, did you work on that one? Their article is very impressive, and I have copied many entries to this page. Bluesatellite (talk) 06:44, 12 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Bluesatellite: Sorry for the late response :p I didn't but I know the main contributor which is a very good user. My work is essentially compiling data now, archiving etc. I have of course a long list of varied interests but her work is endless and I'm trying to help filling the missing gap of information. I also know we never will have accuracy in 100% for any Wikipedia's article as well data provided by chart compilers and certification bodies aren't exempted, mine additions as well. BTW, I personally would remove those Music & Media European Year-End Awards if she wasn't the top winner. Regards, --Apoxyomenus (talk) 07:40, 27 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

--Apoxyomenus (talk) 05:35, 10 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

To whom it may interest, and regarding new additions: Although I didn't include them in the table, there was something called Rolling Stone Music Awards, as they clarified in 1999, they gave for the first time, an "actual trophy" that year. Music trade magazines, such as Music & Media Year-End Awards were supposed to be actual awards (they show a trophy in its latest 1985 issue). "Vogue" in 1990, made its appearance at both "Music & Media Year -End Awards" and European Hot 100 Singles year-end. So I guess, their award section is what is supposed to be an actual award. CashBox, represented similarly their charts year-end and awards. Some books explains that music trade magazines, such as Billboard, CashBox or Music Vendor, gave trophies and plaques. A book also refers that Cashbox editors presented their annual award trophies, and another shows their statuette (called inside the book a prototype). It is difficult to determine what is relevant or not, even additions in FA lists could have debatable additions. Madonna still has others missing awards, but this happens to the majority of contemporary and even newer artists. --Apoxyomenus (talk) 23:32, 14 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Apoxyomenus: What do you think runnerups/3rd place/5th place/ etc being counted as "wins". {{Infobox awards list}} stated: Certain award groups do not simply award one winner. They recognize several different recipients, have runners-up, and have third place. Since this is a specific recognition and is different from losing an award, runner-up mentions are considered wins in this award tally. For simplification and to avoid errors, each award in this list has been presumed to have had a prior nomination.
I personally disagree with this statement. I think only #1 placements should be counted as "win", unless the award committee really give throphies to multiple wins, such as RTHK "Top Ten International Gold Songs"[2] or Japan Gold Disc Awards "The Best 10 New Artists"[3]. This really needs to be discussed further. I find it funny that Kylie Minogue's "98th place" on Phonographic Performance Company of Australia's "100 Most Broadcast Recordings of 2002" is also counted as "win" :p Bluesatellite (talk) 02:38, 15 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
My personal interpretation is that a 98th or similar result couldn't count as a win. It seems more like a complete list showing from nominees to the actual winner by votes, or any process followed. I don't imagine an entity giving awards to each of them. In order to promote their brand/reward their affiliates/clients, that seems to me a waste rather than a victory for the enterprise. Perhaps, they gave away a minor present/frame/medal (?) to recognize nominees rather than an actual trophy. Regarding the Infobox template, is hard. Seems some award ceremonies follow unconventional definitions, their own rules, or perhaps even reinvent a definition. And I'm always wondering about categories such as British LGBT Awards (Viacom Top 10 Music Awards), supposing that instead of a nomination, there is an actual "win". I didn't have a clue about RTHK, for example, but I realized they gave their "tops" trophies, from Gold to Silver. So, just a personal choice, I would prefer to count only wins/1ST place as actual victories, having a similar pattern to RTHK (or like sports), rather than count a runner-up/2nd/3rd when I don't know their process. To me it is safest to work that way. Personal opinion. --Apoxyomenus (talk) 04:26, 15 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
