Fist Swedish National Player

[edit]

Martin Dahlin was not the first black footballer to represent Sweden, that was Jean-Paul Vandenburg. He was probably the second. Pascal Simpson could also have been the second balck player to play for Sweden. Dahlin was by far more sucsessful then Simpson and Vandenburg, but never the less he was not the first black player in teh Sweden squad. VsanoJ (talk) 00:14, 3 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

He was actually born in Uddevalla, but then raised in Lund.

Referring to the paragraph that describes his appearance: "black" and "Swedish" are neither exclusive nor comparable traits. This should be changed to either "black and caucasian" or "[whatever nationality his black parent is/was] and Swedish". Either way it isn't actually relevant to his resembling O.J. Simpson. (many black people, Swedish people and Swedish black people look nothing like him) Ideally, somebody should research the nationality of his black parent (I suspect this is, in fact, Swedish). In fact I have changed the above section, the fact that he looks like O.J. Simpson is enough to imply that he is dark skinned, his mixed parentage is not enough to say that he looks like O.J. Simpson, so there is no logic in that direction.

FWIW, I recall seeing an interview on Lilla Sportspegeln many years ago where he said his dad was from Venezuela.

London

[edit]

I heard he lives in London nowadays, can anyone confirm this?

No but it's probably more likely he lives in Surrey or Essex, that's where all the footballers are. --JamesTheNumberless 12:24, 3 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Swedish surname

[edit]

If his father is Venezuelan then why does he have a Swedish surname? Spiderone (talk) 15:35, 10 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Is there a rule that you must be surnamed after your father, or that Venezuelans must'nt under any circumstances be named Dahlin? --Ezeu (talk) 21:07, 10 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I believe it is unlikely that his father's surname is Dahlin since it is a Swedish surname. However, Henrik Larsson's father is Cape Verdean but he has a Swedish surname (son of Lars) so perhaps their mother's surname was taken so they would fit in better.
