CNs removed

[edit]

A redlinked account has just removed these. I place them here in case anyone wants to do the work of sourcing them.

He was also involved in capacity building in Somalia.[citation needed]
He received an honorary doctorate in Law from the University of Birmingham in 2014.[citation needed]

Hi Carbon Caryatid! I've sourced his honorary doctorate from Birmingham Uni and put that back in. I can't find anything to substantiate the other claim and he doesn't mention anything in his book, so I've left that out for now. Thank you for tidying up after me btw :) - I think I need new glasses. --DSQ (talk) 21:13, 7 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you too! I like to work on the bios of interesting characters, alive or dead. I wish I had his book. And yes, too much editing is causing me to question my eyesight too. Carbon Caryatid (talk) 10:48, 8 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of Princess Diana stalker prosecution

[edit]

Other than the NYT article cited, I can't find any other source which claim the guy was prosecuted by Mr Afzal for stalking Princess Diana. He was arrested and cautioned but never charged. [1] Mr Afzal was involved in prosecuting him for breach of the peace/obstructing Police, but the charges were dropped. [2] So I've removed it. :) --DSQ (talk) 00:44, 6 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

If the NYT says NA prosecuted him, and quasi-stalker behaviour was newsworthy, isn't that enough to include it? Carbon Caryatid (talk) 10:51, 8 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  1. ^ "Royal stalker sent to hospital". The Irish Times.
  2. ^ "Reuters Archive Licensing". Reuters Archive Licensing.
Maybe I was being a bit gung ho there! I don't think the info is strictly accurate, but who am I to question the NYT? I don't object to you putting it back in at all. I'll try to be less gung ho in future. :) --DSQ (talk) 11:33, 8 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

nazir claim that brown home office blocked child rape investigations

[edit]

“You may not know this, but back in 2008 the Home office sent a circular to all police forces in the country saying ‘as far as these young girls who are being exploited in towns and cities, we believe they have made an informed choice about their sexual behaviour and therefore it is not for you police officers to get involved in.’”

while he walked back what he said, it still is objectively true he went on bbc radio 4 and said it NotQualified (talk) 19:13, 20 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

this was previously in the gordon brown and jacqui smith pages but it is most appropriate here NotQualified (talk) 19:14, 20 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Those are two sources that are not reliable and cannot be used for contentious claims, regardless of which article. At a certain point, you are WP:BLUDGEONING. – notwally (talk) 19:31, 20 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

no im not...? i have co-operated with other editors just fine??? the man in question has literally said himself on twitter he said the things he said, which was linked in a earlier thread (if an audio clip pre-deepfake era from a national radio isnt enough). i understand "youtube" isnt a source but BBC Radio 4 is.
