The focus of this article

[edit]

My point of view on this is quite simple; I believe that the focus of this article should be the series Nick Fury's Howling Commandos.

The first part of my argument is that this is the name of the article and that the name Nick Fury's Howling Commandos is the name of the title not the group. The official name of the group is the S.H.I.E.L.D. Paranormal Containment Unit (name established in Blade [third series] #1 [dated November 2006]). The Howling Commandos is a nickname, but that isn't the title of this article; its Nick Fury's Howling Commandos.

The second part of my argument is that having the team as the focus assumes that the S.H.I.E.L.D. Parnormal Containment Unit will eventually have enough appearances outside of the six issues of their series so that having an article focused on them is justifiable. Thier series lasted only six issues before it was killed and they have one brief appearance in Blade. I see no real evidence that they will reappear in the future anytime soon.

I just don't see the need to have the group be the focus of this article. It should be the series as events that happened in those issues are what this article is mostly talking about anyway. Stephen Day 02:23, 7 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

That's a good point: If the name of the team isn't actually Nick Fury's Howling Commandos (unlike Sgt. Fury and his Howling Commandos, which was the name of the team), then the article is about a comic-book series titled Nick Fury's Howling Commandos. -- Tenebrae 03:32, 7 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Cool, I'll start editing tomorrow. Thanks for listening Tenebrae, its always naice woking with somebody who wants to work with you. Stephen Day 22:09, 7 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the kind words! --Tenebrae 02:53, 8 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

OK, most of the edit is done. The Characters section still needs work I think. Anything else that doesn't seem right? Stephen Day 22:38, 8 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Nice job! I made a few line edits and some minor re-org. --Tenebrae 17:47, 9 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Characters I removed from the Charcters section

[edit]

I've reread the series two times now just to be sure I didn't miss anything. I still can't see where the following characters appeared. I removed them for the sake of accuracy, but I have to assume they were added for a reason. If anyone can point out where they appear, then by all means please readd them:

I just noticed this but in regards to the above characters, I think the one to "blame" is the Official Handbooks; including the individual entries for some of the characters having become a part of Commandos at some point. I think this is also classed as canon as one of the writers for the Handbooks has stated that everything in the handbooks are classed as canon. I think that statement appears in the talk page of the ComicsProject. StarSpangledKiwi 22:01, 3 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I guess the next question is; what should be done? The characters section is so huge as it is. Is it really worth it to add all of these characters back? I don't doubt that if they are listed in the handbooks as members that they must have appeared, but most of them have to be background in one of two pannels if I didn't notice them after rereading twice. Merge discussion

[edit]

All three characters only appeared in this series. Since its cancellation they haven't appeared since and there is no indication this will change anytime soon. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Stephen Day (talkcontribs) 02:28, 16 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Merge. If they crop up again in the future we can restart the entry but as they stand they are skimpy and have nowhere to go from where they are at. (Emperor 03:19, 16 September 2007 (UTC))[reply]
