Blog criticism

[edit]

The simple fact that a few bloggers here and there have criticized Emmel's work is not worthy of mention here, given the sheer number of blogs on baseball; someone is certain to have criticized virtually every umpire at some point. In order to mention it in the article, the blogs should be written by noteworthy baseball writers (usually with articles of their own), or writers for major newspapers, and they should be identified in the article. Keep in mind that articles on managers and players do not recount every published criticism of their play or decisions. Likewise, making two incorrect calls on one play isn't notable unless the game or play had a particularly large impact (such as a playoff game). Just a note that "on May 8 someone said Emmel made a bad call" or "someone said his strike zone was inconsistent" doesn't remotely cut it. MisfitToys 01:30, 11 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Bias of 2010 information

[edit]

The information regarding the 2010 playoff between the Giants and Braves was so inaccurate that I removed it. "called Posey safe when he was clearly safe" is just an example of editing wikipedia based on team preference. That and no sources to back up any claims (betting for example) makes it crap.
