"Part X" in title

[edit]

I am starting this here. For the episodes Black Friday and A Song of Ass and Fire, "(Part 1)" and "(Part 2)", respectively, should NOT be added to the |Title = or |RTitle = fields. They are in not a part of the official titles, as can be seen by the official press releases given by South Park Studios (or represented here through The Futon Critic), or how they are represented in the "Watch Full Episodes" area of the South Park Studios site. This info is best suited, if at all for the season pages, in the short summary, which I have noted. @Grapesoda22: stated on their second time readding this info to the title on other season pages: "Well duh, The part x information is left outside of the Episode quotes also isn't linked and in parentheses, so its clear to anyone reading." It may be clear to anyone reading, but this info is not a part of the title, as stated. So it should not be in these fields, because Parker and Stone are not releasing these titles with these modifier. The only exceptions are the "Cartoon War" episodes and "Imaginationland" episodes, as those explicitly have the part x in their titles. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 04:42, 20 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Your thinking about this too much. The whole idea of the (Part x) is to let readers know the episode is a two part episode when the title isn't obvious (ie "Your Getting Old" and "Ass Burgers" is a two part episode but by reading the titles alone you wouldn't know that) this isn't needed for "Cartoon Wars" and "Imagination Land" because its already clear. The Part X filed is clearly not part of the title as I've explained earlier in the quote you used. Maybe we could try something of a compromise here. The part X should not be in the title, as it clearly is not a part of the episode title. If you see the description right under the episode, the first thing it says is "part one" and "part two", that is the perfect compromise, and all that is really needed as it relates to that. Agreed with STATicVapor. I am not thinking about this too much; I'm thinking about how the information should be correctly displayed. I initially was not even going to put anything back that mentioned the parts when I made my edits across the season pages, but after thinking about it, a fair compromise was what I did: adding the part info as the first thing in the summary section. Once again, the way you reverted to made the (Part X) a part of the title, because anything added to the |Title = or |RTitle = fields is meant to reference anything related to the official titles, not how stories connect. So the only option on the issue to accurately and correctly mention the fact that episodes connect, is how it has been done. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 07:29, 20 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
What if we left it in as is but made it extra clear that its not part of the title. Grapesoda22 (talk) 19:51, 20 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
There is no way to do that with the way the Episodes Table template is set up. And we don't have to go around adding notes next to them saying "Not part of the title." At that point, it really has no place in that part of the table. I also don't see the need for having it mentioned in that part of the table that episodes connect. If readers are interested in knowing more about the episode, (say by looking at it on the List of page), they will either go to the season page (and see the distinction in the short summary) or the individual episode page, which is the most ideal place for this info. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 21:21, 20 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thats not what I said. Grapesoda22 (talk) 05:37, 21 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
What did you mean then? - Favre1fan93 (talk) 13:34, 21 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
You keep insisting that people will wrongfully assume the part x information is part of the official title. I'm saying there could be a way to keep the PArt X feild but make it even clearer its not the title. Grapesoda22 (talk) 17:43, 21 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
My previous answer answered this. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 20:43, 21 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Restate one more time please. Grapesoda22 (talk) 21:46, 22 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
The "Part X" would not fit where it previously was, due to how the Episodes table parameters are set up and formatted. As it was, there is no way to distinguish that Part X is not part of the title. Thus, the info got moved to the short summary, which in and of itself is a more appropriate location. For a two part episode, the first now states "Part one of two." right at the beginning of the summary, and the second states "Conclusion." This is the best way to represent the information while not outright removing it. And, if a reader is looking at the episodes from the List of page, and require more info, they can go to the article pages or the season pages, and will see this info. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 22:17, 22 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Reception/ Edit Request 5/4/13

[edit]

Could a section about the reception of the 17th season of South Park be put on the page? --24.147.1.197 (talk) 18:54, 4 May 2014 (UTC)Jacob Chesley[reply]

If you can find reliable sources to support reception, then yes, it can be. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 21:10, 4 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
