Fair use rationale for Image:Good earth (1937).jpg

[edit]

Image:Good earth (1937).jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page. If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. BetacommandBot (talk) 22:46, 13 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Controversy

[edit]

I added a controversy section as it is very much a film now known for the practice of yellowface. Nemogbr (talk) 10:07, 5 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I took out the claim that Wong and other ethnic Chinese were vetoed "because their looks didn't fit the concept of what Chinese people should look like<ref>Berry 2000, p. 111.</ref>" because that contradicts the Hayes Code assertion. Clarityfiend (talk) 01:20, 13 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Well the controversy section has been removed by TheRealFennShysa. Any mention of yellowface has also been removed. Nemogbr (talk) 01:25, 13 February 2010 (UTC) --Nemogbr (talk) 01:25, 13 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

No, I merged it with the Production section, where most of the info was already mentioned. P.S. why is your user name, date and time getting duplicated? Clarityfiend (talk) 01:28, 13 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
No idea. Probably my signature somewhere. Good to know, the information is still there somewhere.

Added data in other articles, but it seems my entries are being trimmed due to too much information or deleted for not having enough citation links. A citation needed tag would be more helpful. As it is it's getting annoying, encountering too many editors who prefer to delete. Regards, Nemogbr (talk) 02:11, 13 February 2010 (UTC) --Nemogbr (talk) 02:11, 13 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

What should I do?

Don't panic; a discussion will now take place over on Commons about whether to remove the file. This gives you an opportunity to contest the deletion, although please review Commons guidelines before doing so.

  • If the image is non-free then you may need to upload it to Wikipedia (Commons does not allow fair use)
  • If the image isn't freely licensed and there is no fair use rationale then it cannot be uploaded or used.
