Ultimately, this article will have to contain summaries of each of the World Cup trips the US team has gone through. KyuuA4 (Talk:キュウ) 02:25, 4 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

1938 Withdrawal?

[edit]

The table has the United States withdrawing in 1938. Is there more information about this? The main 1938 FIFA World Cup page mentioned Anschlussed Austria withdrawing, but no mention of the United States. --John (User:Jwy/talk) 02:00, 28 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I see its a template, taking it up at Template_talk:United_States_FIFA_World_Cup_record as well. --John (User:Jwy/talk) 02:05, 28 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Merge proposal

[edit]

In a previous discussion related to FIFA World Cup on ABC and FIFA World Cup on NBC it was suggested that those two pages aren't sufficient as stand-alone articles, and hence that they should be merged here. Sounds like a good plan to me! For interest, the previous discussion is at Talk:FIFA World Cup on NBC#Merger proposal. Klbrain (talk) 10:18, 10 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Merge undone

[edit]

Per the merge proposal above, Klbrain performed the merge of FIFA World Cup on ABC and FIFA World Cup on NBC here, later Khoa41860 reverted it - but kept the merged text here. As a result, we have a very severe duplication that is not good IMO. I suggest to re-discuss the situation here, pinging @KyuuA4 and Jo Jc Jo:. Викидим (talk) 23:16, 13 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

My position is to keep the ABC/NBC articles and trim the text here: the overall situation is not much different from, say, Major League Baseball on NBC, where merging anywhere definitely would not look good: the World Cup is very significant and therefore its coverage is covered (pun intended) in multiple WP:RS. This article is mostly about the US team, so media coverage should be short to be WP:DUE. Викидим (talk) 23:20, 13 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Garsh2: This discussion might explain (but not justify) the anonymous change that you have just reverted. Викидим (talk) 00:19, 14 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! I did read the this page in case some consensus was reached to remove that content (doesn't appear that way). Additionally, the anonymous editor did not provide any reasonable edit summary. I'll keep an eye on this page. Garsh (talk) 00:24, 14 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yet another possibility is to merge the NBC article into Soccer on NBC Sports that already has a section and teh ABC article into Soccer on ESPN/ABC. Викидим (talk) 16:25, 15 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
