Badge Engineering

[edit]

In compliance with http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:List_of_motorcycle_manufacturers#Added_list_criteria I have removed AJS from the current manufacturers.

Until such time that a distinction between "current marques" and "current manufacturer" can be made, this has to be shown as a badge engineering company, as no motorcycles in their range are of their own construction, with nothing to prove otherwise. Dates given are those from the Wikipedia article of the builing of motorcycles to the last AJS Stormer replica development ending in "1980," although a more accurate date is needed. Update: Article cites replicas being built up to the year 2000 - cutoff date for manufacture updated in list.193.61.104.8 (talk) 02:00, 8 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

EDIT: I realise I should have used the term "IMPORTER" as well as "Badge engineer." The bikes are another manufacturer's given a new name. Also, it would seem the AJS article has been used as an advertisement for the new imported bikes. 193.61.104.8 (talk) 01:42, 8 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
