Proposal to move and rewrite template

[edit]

Since Honolulu is legally a consolidated city–county, I would prefer this template be renamed to just Template:Honolulu and then rewritten so it is modeled after other such templates like {{Denver}}, {{New Orleans}} and {{San Francisco}}, and thus include other articles in Category:Honolulu, Hawaii. We can keep the CDP row, but a row titled "Unincorporated communities" row is not technically correct. Thanks. Zzyzx11 (talk) 03:33, 29 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I guess I was mistaken about the technical legal "Unincorporated" status as per the current intro on Category:Neighborhoods in Honolulu, Hawaii. But my other reasons to rename and rewrite the template remains the same. Cheers. Zzyzx11 (talk) 03:07, 1 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
This isn't treated by the Census Bureau as a consolidated city-county, like the three examples that you give: accordingly, we treat it like any other county, both in format and in naming. Nyttend (talk) 02:59, 5 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I disagree with your reason. Yes, Honolulu and the rest of Hawaii is unique because of the lack of municipal governments. But the templates should not be strictly based solely on what the Census Bureau says since their CDPs and other statistical areas have no common, practical legal status like a consolidated city-county has.
