M K Devidasan

[1]M K Devidasan was born on 29th June 1941 in Kodungallur, Thrissur district Kerala, and his parents are Madathiparambil Kumaran and Arayamparambil Sumathi.

He is a graduate of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering with a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management. He had served in the Indian Air Force for 32 years as a Technical Officer. During his tenure, he participated in the 1962 Indo-China War, 1965 Indo – Pak war, and 1971 Indo – Pak war.

He took premature retirement from the Indian Air Force to devote his full time to his passion for imparting skill education and creative writing. His first work of an English poem book was published by Geetha Publishing House, New Delhi in 1976. His first novel was published by Writer’s Workshop, Kolkata in the year 1993 and was digitized by [2]Michigan University.

Career in the Indian Air Force

In June 1959 he joined the Indian Air Force after his matriculation as an airman in Wireless Operator Mechanic II and he passed out after one and half years of training as first in a batch of 150 trainers. In 1962 he completed his course of 1 year as Wireless Operator Mechanic I and was posted to Air Force station Thambaram where he got the opportunity to join his engineering course which he completed successfully in 1965. Subsequently, he was commissioned as a class one officer and completed one and half years of officer training at Air Force Technical College, Bangalore, where he passed out as the first in his batch of 38 trainee officers.

During his career as an officer, he had undergone various career development courses; Intra Branch Conversion, Surface to Air Missile II, and Surface to Air Missile III.

Guard of honor to Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on 24th October 1998 at Trivandrum

As a Squadron leader, as he was best in ground training and turnout he got the opportunity to give the guard of honor to Mr. Zail Singh, former president of India, twice. He also got the golden opportunity to give the guard of honor to Madam Indira Gandhi, former Prime Minister of India on 24th October 1984 in Trivandrum on the occasion of the inauguration of Southern Air Command.

Following his retirement, Devidasan transitioned into a different sphere dedicated to serving humanity. In 1995, he founded the [3]Rajiv Gandhi Education Foundation (RGEF), a society that has since been instrumental in collaborating with Central and State Governments to offer skill development courses. Under his leadership, RGEF has played a vital role in providing skill enhancement opportunities to the illiterate and neo-literate population. RGEF established Jan Shikshan Sansthan -Ernakulam, under MSDE, Government of India in 2005 and it receives an annual grant to give free skill courses to illiterates and neo-literates.

Television and Film

Devidasan's creativity extends beyond the written word. His TV serial "Kurutholathumpikal," consisting of eight episodes, was aired on DD1 in 1998, entertaining and engaging audiences. Furthermore, his film, "Krishna Kripa Sagaram," based on his novel "Marriage in Heaven," showcases his prowess as a scriptwriter and producer.
