This is a list of artists who are notable as installation artists. This is not a directory, but a collection of relevant articles on Wikipedia that provide information on past and current practice of installation art.

Artists in this list have gained recognition as installation artists

because installation artwork is a defining element of their artistic practice, AND
they have been shown in contemporary art exhibitions of worldwide importance, such as the documenta, the Venice Biennale, or the Sao Paulo Art Biennial, OR
their installation artworks were exhibited in major modern or contemporary art museums and institutes, OR
several of their installation artworks were reviewed in major national or international art-magazines.

If you would like to propose an artist for inclusion, please consider whether the artist's article verifies that the above criteria apply. In particular, if an artist is merely labeled as such in an article, this is not sufficient for inclusion in this list. The article must reference specific works in the genre and describe them. If this does not apply, please consider editing the artist's article accordingly. If in doubt, please propose artists for inclusion on the talk page.
