Cormac Devlin is an Irish Fianna Fáil politician and a member of Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council, representing the Dun Laoghaire electoral area. [1]

Background

Devlin is from Glenageary and was educated at Harold Boys National School, Dalkey, Presentation Brothers College, Glasthule and the Institute of Public Administration. Devlin lives with his wife Jennifer and has two children.[2]

Public Service

Devlin was first elected to Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council in June 2004 taking the second seat in the Dun Laoghaire LEA with 1776 first preference votes. During the term he served as Group Deputy Leader (2007-2008) while also serving on the council Environment, Culture & Community Special Policy Committee and the Organisation, Procedure & Protocol Committee.

During the 2009 Local Elections it was reported that Mary Hanafin was backing his opponent Peter O'Brien. In the event Devlin, comfortably came ahead of O'Brien and was elected, albit with a reduced vote.[3]

Since the General Election in 2009 Devlin is only Fianna Fail public representative in Dun Laoghaire.[4]

Devlin served on the Dun Laoghaire Rathdown Drugs Task Force from 2004-2011. He currently serves on the Dun Laoghaire Rathdown Joint Policing Committee. He has taken a conservative line on policing, regularly criticising Minister for Justice and Defence Alan Shatter TD.[5] [6]
