ORIGIN[edit]
Eskimo Recordings is a record label that was founded in 2000, and originates from the eclectic parties that took place during the early nineties in the ‘Eskimo fabriek’ in Ghent. These underground parties got famous for mixing synth-pop, new wave, acid house, funk and rock ‘n’ roll into a new and fresh sound, setting new standards for the Belgian club culture.
When other labels began to release the sound of these parties on various compilations, Eskimo Recordings was founded to take its sound in own hands, and discover new grounds. From the very start, timeless quality and originality were the key values upon which the label was based.
The first compilation release came out in June 2000 : Eskimo: Various Artists And Many Others. This was the start for many other succesfull compilations to follow, such as Summermadness Aftersun and Serie Noire : Dark pop and New Beat.
Aside from these compilation series, the label also released the first original recording in 2002, Mangled by Ray Mang.
