User:NinjaRobotPirate/Plot blanker

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This guy deletes random paragraphs in articles with plots that have been tagged as too long. He does not summarize the blanked portions, which leaves them incoherent. On film-related articles, this user is generally known and regarded as disruptive. On other media articles, you may want to explain yourself better if you revert him. Good faith editors may not understand the situation. You may also wish to mention that WP:FILMPLOT does not apply to books, graphic novels, TV shows, etc.

It's obviously pointless to even float the possibility of a range block. Feel free to add more IP addresses here; maybe we can at least create an edit filter. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 05:58, 22 June 2015 (UTC) edit: Limited rangeblock applied. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 18:51, 1 February 2016 (UTC)

I added a lot more IP addresses, but it started giving me a headache going down the rabbit hole and finding more and more and more and more. Looks like this user has been doing this for a long time, first with the IP's in the range block, changing reception areas to add box office bombs without sourcing, to reverting back years of edits to a smaller plot, to the plot blanking of the past few months, and now the user is changing the dates of cleanup templates to "update" them, basically to clear out old plot categories and sometimes placing them in the August 2015 plot category. Numerous different editors have talked to this user across many different IP addresses about the plot blanking without any real effect. At least two editors have talk to the user about the changing of dates in cleanup templates to no avail. Maybe talking to User:JamesBWatson would be of help, since he IP range blocked the old addresses, to see if there is something we could do.
It took a long time, but I got as far as I could get. If you think any of the addresses I added are incorrect, please remove them. It might be helpful to go through the talk pages of the IP addresses and notify any editors that left a warning, so we could get more input, more IP addresses and show how long and wide ranging this editor's problems are. I think the user has signed up for a couple of account based on their edits, User:Slivertiger779 and User:BlackGator. Aspects (talk) 04:25, 9 October 2015 (UTC)
@Aspects: It definitely looks likely. Have you filed an SPI? There might be enough evidence to link them. One thing that I've noticed is that the IP editor has been copying edit summaries that Flyer22 and I use, like "revert to last clean version", which is an odd edit summary for a brand new user to use.
