Welcome to the World Digital Library project!

[edit]

Hi Secret! I'm so happy to see you signed up to join the project - welcome. You can dive into our to-do lists here. I know you have specific interests in Florida and biographical subjects. You can find the Florida to-do list here. Be sure to watchlist your favorite to-do lists, as they will continue to grow as new content gets added to the WDL website. Also, you can always search the WDL website for something that you're interested in. And be sure to share your outcomes here. If I can help with anything just ask and welcome aboard! This individual is a personal friend, is referenced in a number of articles and does desire to have his article restored, which I don't believe he ever edited. I did not create the article but will restore it if there's no explanation and after further review of the logs. Looked at your edit history around the time of the deletion and there were a string of them on the prior day but can't find this one with any discussion but presume there's a prod log. Lycurgus (talk) 12:04, 13 October 2013 (UTC)

Noting I would have done this but admin access needed to get to the deleted text. Could get from wayback or whatever but will leave as is unless Curtis asks me to follow thru on that, which it doesn't appear he will. Why don't you give some thought to your use of this site? 76.180.168.166 (talk) 14:36, 17 October 2013 (UTC)

Congratulations to everyone who has been successful in this year's WikiCup, whether you made it to the final rounds or not, and a particular congratulations to the newcomers to the WikiCup who have achieved this year. Thanks to all who have taken part and helped out with the competition. While it has been an excellent year, errors have opened up the judges' eyes to the need for a third judge, and it is with pleasure that we announce that experienced WikiCup participant Miyagawa will be acting as a judge from now on. We hope you will all join us in welcoming him to the team.

Next year's competition begins on 1 January. You are invited to sign up to participate; it is open to all Wikipedians, new and old. Brainstorming and discussion remains open for how next year's competition will work, and straw polls will be opened by the judges soon. Those interested in friendly competition may also like to keep an eye on the stub contest, being organised by Casliber. The WikiCup judges will be back in touch over the coming months, and we hope to see you all in the 2014 competition. Until then, it only remains to once again congratulate our worthy winners, and thank all participants for their involvement! Jessie Rogers

[edit]

Hello, I want to talk about Jessie Rogers article, which you deleted. I created the article and I have it on my watchlist, so I have noticed how often it is vandalised, a problem that was temporarily resolved when the article was semi-protected. I think it would be a better idea to restore the article, semi-protect it again (indefinitely this time), block users whose edits to the article are disruptive, and remove all negative and unsourced information from the article. I'm not sure what the article looked like at the time you deleted, but could you please restore it back to it's most recent, not vandalized version? I'm also sure that notability isn't an issue with Rogers, who passes the WP notability guidelines with multiple nominations for prestigious awards and a win for a fan's choice award, which is proof of her large fan base. Her article has never had an AfD or PROD either. Rebecca1990 (talk) 14:55, 14 November 2013 (UTC)

Most of the latest version fit policy. I noticed no direct BLP, and it may have been deleted shortly after the vandalism has been reverted. I am reversing your deletion, putting it up on WP:DRV and indefinetly semi-protecting it. --wL<speak·check> 08:09, 16 November 2013 (UTC)

Thank you for getting this editor's attention. I have made some comments which I hope you will find constructive below her unblock request. I have offered help despite her unwise outburst on my talk page, assuming you or someone else feels she is worthy of a second third chance. Fiddle Faddle 19:02, 16 November 2013 (UTC)

Let me see her reply before I unblock her for one final chance. Secret account 19:10, 16 November 2013 (UTC)

Kudos and gratitude to FiddleFaddle for sticking to pillar four despite provocation. Can somebody please fact-check my lessons for PrincessK over on her talkpage, and make sure I'm not leading her astray? She's already going to be on a pretty short WP:ROPE, so I'd feel bad if she got unblocked, and then fell into a pit-trap because I gave her bad advice. Danke. 74.192.84.101 (talk) 19:38, 16 November 2013 (UTC)
Hi Secret. I've been asked to take another look at this, based on my previous unblock decline. I'm of the opinion that PrincessK could be unblocked now, on the condition that she refrains from adding any article about her friends/clients in future. Are you of like mind? Greetings. Regarding deletion of Category talk:Railway Schools in India

[edit]

Just when i logged after few hours i noticed that the talk page has been deleted due to "Mass deletion of pages added by 188.30.206.238" also it was blocked. I believe this could be done to avoid vandalism and promote good faith. I couldn't properly find what kind of activity the IP user made. Is it possible to restore the talk page to its original initial form else can it created again or may it be in the present blank status. Please advice on what can be done. Thanks. --Bala(blitz) 12:57, 28 November 2013 (UTC)

Image permission

[edit]

I had the page on my watchlist due to other discussions, but I saw you closed Wikipedia:Possibly unfree files/2013 November 27#File:Michael Harris Ph.D., Academic.jpg with a statement stating that you had spoken with the uploader and that you can "confirm this". I am assuming that you believe that you can confirm that the person that you spoke with has released the rights to the image. Although I believe you are trying to do the right thing, I'm not sure you handled it the best way for now and the future. Don't you think it would be better to have the uploader (who seems to be the subject and probably has a WP:COI with a majority of their edits) send an email to Permissions of WP:OTRS using the process outlined at WP:PERMISSION? I know you are WP:AGF, but this this issue could potentially come up again. If there were appropriate documentation through the WP:OTRS process, that would trump any potential further issues. -- ТимофейЛееСуда. 01:18, 29 November 2013 (UTC)

I'm waiting for the OTRS email to process now so I could confirm it as a free image. I spoke to the editor online who reassured me that he is subject, looked at what was going on which is clearly a bunch of biting, closed the debate early and told them to confirm the image to OTRS. As an OTRS agent I know the process. Thanks Secret account 01:29, 29 November 2013 (UTC)

Please undelete Sex for Fish

[edit]

You recently deleted Sex for Fish in terms of "02:59, 16 December 2013 Secret (Talk | contribs) deleted page Sex for Fish (A10: Recently created article that duplicates an existing topic, Jaboya system)" - But this is a mistake. The article Jaboya system covers only one specific variant of the Sex for Fish phenomenon as practiced in only one locality while the phenomenon actually exists in a broad region under a variety of names. The Sex for Fish article is the broader overall article and a consensus has emerged to merge Jaboya system into Sex for Fish - I was offline for a few days so I couldn't do the merger earlier. Deleting Sex for Fish because Jaboya System exists is similar to deleting Automobile because Ford exists. I will perform the merger as soon as possible after you undelete Sex for Fish. Thanks Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 08:25, 16 December 2013 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/United Tournament

Dear Secret,

I saw you closed the discussion for the United Tournament nomination as "no consensus". 4 Keeps against only 1 Delete in my opinion qualifies as "The result was keep for the article, and delete for season pages". Is it possible to change it please? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 176.24.123.150 (talk) 21:34, 17 December 2013 (UTC)

Please restore the article, I had re-written it when an admin inserted the copyright infringement tag into the article but didn't remove the tag after the rewrite. The matching phrases are not copyright infringement, they were company names like "High Speed Ship Building and Engineering Co. Ltd." and some common phrases like "established on the" etc. Please have look at it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Akib.H (talkcontribs) 09:43, 18 December 2013 (UTC)

See WP:CLOSEPARAPHRASING which the article clearly is. Secret account 21:33, 20 December 2013 (UTC)

Ok at least restore the references only, I'll write a new article then, please. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Akib.H (talkcontribs) 14:41, 21 December 2013 (UTC)

Deleting Ariel Pink album pages?

[edit]

I noticed that you called for the deletion of Ariel Pink's "Underground" album as well as his "Odditties Sodomies Vol. 1" album.

I understand that you don't view Ariel Pink's early album releases as significant, but he has plenty of documentation as a critically successful and commercially charting musician in his work just a few years later. It seems silly to remove information about his early albums simply because they're less popular. If he's a successful musician in general, the argument that any of his releases are insignificant seems strange.

I had tried to visit these pages for some basic background information on the album (dates, personnel, etc.), which is now unavailable anywhere on wikipedia. A stub would be vastly more useful than a deleted link. Please get back to me when you have the chance.

Why delete an article following proper copyright rules

[edit]

why did you delete the article named "Dreamtwinz" even when the article talk page clearly stated that an email was sent to wikipedia from the copyright owner to donate the text content with accordance to the rules, the template OTRS pending was placed on the article's talk page showing that it was pending approval, so you should have waited first before deleting both the article and talk page! --Greemcomics (talk) 03:11, 23 December 2013 (UTC)

Hi! Do you know the newbie wants to talk to you? IMHO, Ubikwit and STSC should have politely asked the newbie that s/he should not join the SI RM as it was a very controversial topic and not a place for newbies, strike out her/his vote/edits there and leave. It seems to me that the user sounded reasonable and civil enough on the RM. I understand that the user knows WP well, but is it difficult to give the user a chance?
