Carl Perkins

[edit]

Steve, thanks for your message. I came to the page because of his performances on Ozark Jubilee, the main page I have done. It was frustrating at first because of errors in Go, Cat, Go! On page 163, they get it right, that Carl was booked for March 17. But on page 171, they mistakenly say the appearance was February 17, getting the month wrong. It also could not have been Feb. 17 because that was a Friday night and the Jubilee aired on Saturdays.

Also on page 163, they mistakenly say "Presley introduced the song to a national television audience when he performed it...on Stage Show." In reality, Elvis did that on February 11th!

That's why it really had me flummoxed when I saw the notation to the book saying Perkins performed it in February! Not until I got the book did I see the mistakes. I think that my account of the chronology is now correct -- unless you have any information to the contrary?

Thanks for the information, Steve. I see what you mean. I wonder if 141 is some sort of Elvis wannabe; maybe he works as an Elvis impersonator. He certainly is strangely obsessed.Beth4664 (talk) 03:26, 25 July 2009 (UTC)

I give up. It's impossible to talk to 141; he's not a rational person.Beth4664 (talk) 02:37, 30 July 2009 (UTC)

Re: Western Swing

I'm afraid I'm not a musician, and not close to any material which would help you in this matter. A quick search of Wikipedia brings up The Society for American Music located in the Stephen Foster Memorial in Pittsburgh. There is also a library and archives at the Heinz History Center: e-mail queries at library at hswp dot org. (Translate to internet-speak.) I'll be curious about your results. By the way, thank you for your quick and polite reply to my grouchy question. Pittsburgh Poet (talk) 20:25, 6 February 2010 (UTC)

A GA review on Heartbreak Hotel is in progress and has been put on hold for an initial seven days to allow time to address issues raised. See Talk:Heartbreak Hotel/GA2. Assistance in developing the article would be welcomed. SilkTork *YES! 13:30, 5 December 2010 (UTC)

Just for your information

Hi Steve, you may remember this discussion: [1]. I have not contributed much to Wikipedia during the last two years, but it is very interesting that both DocKino and DCGeist, who were deeply involved in edit wars with me, gave up contributing to Wikipedia in July 2012. See [2] and [3]. Congratulations for improving the Rockabilly and Dachau pages! Onefortyone (talk) 19:01, 1 November 2014 (UTC)
