Toes on the Nose is a high quality coastal clothing company dedicated to the history and soul of surfing. In 1961, John Severson[1] was inspired by the art of riding on the nose of a surf board and coined the phrase (and designed the logo) "Toes on the Nose" for his Surfer Magazine. The logo was used for an editorial column entitles "Toes on the Nose" depicting the classic maneuver of the surfer's toes hanging off the edge of the surfboard or "hanging ten". With Surfer Magazine's blessing, Toes on the Nose was established in 1992 in Laguna Beach, California to help promote the image, lifestyle and history of the surf culture.

Toes on the Nose partnered with the indie surf film One California Day; a documentary film about surfing shot in six coastal regions in California. Directed by Mark Jeremias and Jason Bafas, the film looks at the experience of California surfing from Crescent City in the north to Imperial Beach in the south.

Over the years, Toes on the Nose has sponsored several professional longboard surfers. One of the earliest sponsored riders was the surf legend Rabbit Kekai[2]. Born in Honolulu, Hawaii in 1920, Rabbit learned to surf from role models like Duke Kahanamoku. Rabbit also served in World War II on the Underwater Demolition Teams and started the Waikiki Surf Club. Toes on the Nose has also sponsored World Longboard Champion surfers Beau Young and Joy Monahan, ASP Women's Longboard World Champion Lindsey Steinriede-Engle as well as Hawaiian reggae artist Sashamon.

Currently located in Newport Beach, California, Toes on the Nose is still creating coastal lifestyle prints and the designs are continuing to evolve using the latest fabrics and technology to improve the fit, form and function; pushing the envelope of the fashion industry.
