How to remove a redirect to a section in order to start a new article[edit]

Hi, @Codename Noreste! I'm fairly new to Wikipedia editing (since February 2024) and while I've been learning a lot along the way, there are things that still stump me. Right now, I need to translate an article (es:Literatura de Ecuador) from the Spanish Wikipedia into English. And the title of my English translation will be Ecuadorian literature. However, there's already a redirect from that title to the Literature section of the Culture of Ecuador article. And I'm not sure how to proceed in this case, as I don't want to break or mess up anything!

Your help will be greatly appreciated!

Hello, @Codename Noreste, are you available? I really need to work on this article. But both Literature of Ecuador and Ecuadorian Literature are redirected to the article Culture of Ecuador and I don't know how to free these titles so I can create a new page.
Thanks. TheTastyWord (talk) 18:59, 11 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I apologize for this late reply, TheTastyWord. Personal stuff and Hurricane Beryl that I have to deal with got in the way… anyway where are we, oh right.
The section you mentioned redirects to a section in that page (Culture of Ecuador), but you can copyedit and/or improve that section; the literature section doesn't have any sources, but you can expand it with information based on the Spanish Wikipedia, and make sure that you are bold, but not reckless, in updating it. I hope this helps, and thank you! Codename Noreste 🤔 Talk 19:07, 11 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, no! I read about the hurricane, I hope you and your loved ones are OK. :(
Thanks for your quick reply. Is there any way I can create a new page instead of just editing the section? And then create a link in the "Culture of Ecuador" page to the main article? That's actually what I wanted to do, since the original Spanish article is only about literature and I want it to have its own page in English, as well, if possible. That was my question, actually, how do I eliminate the redirects so that I can "claim" the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ecuadorian%20literature URL. Thank you! (I tried looking in the MOS and Help pages but couldn't find what I'm looking for). TheTastyWord (talk) 19:19, 11 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I have an idea: you could make a subpage in your userspace (Special:MyPage/Ecuadorian literature), and probably add information based on that article you want to translate from eswiki (but do make sure to proofread it and add additional citations that can make the content verifiable in question). Awesome, thank you! :) TheTastyWord (talk) 19:39, 11 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Ikarod on Zheravna (00:39, 6 July 2024)[edit]

Hey there! Recently started editing some pages/reviewing for copy edits. Does Wikipedia prefer a space between a number and the units or no space? That convention depends so wanted to check. --Ikarod (talk) 00:39, 6 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello there! I believe it's your choice to add a space between the number and units, or to not add a space between them at all. I hope this helps, and happy editing! Codename Noreste 🤔 Talk 02:00, 6 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Enigmainkwell (03:03, 12 July 2024)[edit]

Hello, I created a page about an hour or so ago. I am in the sandbox environment, reading and learning as I go along, and some person tagged my sandbox for speedy deletion. I just learned how to make a heading, bold it, and make a paragraph in a sandbox learning environment. Why would he flag me and have it deleted? Where can we practice? What's the point of the learning and reference articles? --Enigmainkwell (talk) 03:03, 12 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, new user. Currently, there's your sample page (User:Enigmainkwell/Sample page) or Wikipedia:Sandbox, where you can test out editing functions. Thank you. Codename Noreste 🤔 Talk 03:09, 12 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I appreciate you putting it back. I visited that person's talk page, and it appears that he deletes many people's sandboxes and sample learning environments in less than an hour, marking them for removal. Many thanks for fixing this for me :) Enigmainkwell (talk) 03:16, 12 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
