A little help

[edit]

Good evening Falkirks. I was wondering if you will not help meg get translated and transferred Hadsund introduction to Danish Wikipedia Hadsund on the English. I would really like to do it, but it can be a little difficult nor I barely speak the language. sincerely, --Søren1997 (talk // contributions) 22:13, 17 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Ray Rice

[edit]

Why do you think it is "constructive" to sanitize violence towards women? He beat his wife, that's a fact and certainly note worthy. Injecting your opinion by removing this fact harms the objectivity of Wikipedia. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Butchmcsnutch (talkcontribs) 18:39, 5 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think you understand my rational for reverting you edit. The page Ray Rice has been created for his notability in football. Hence, the introduction should clearly state why he is notable and not personal details. The "personal life" section seems to convey what you were trying to add. Hi please help! I need to delete the page Roberto pla as the page I meant to create was 'Roberto Pla' and as you can see the former contains a grammatical error! Lola2012 Response to you message

[edit]

Good evening Falkirks, I have just recieved you message about your decision to undo my recent changes to the LuxConnect page because "it didn’t appear constructive" to you. Actually, the former Luxconnect page was not only spreading some wrong information but also a bite light compared to the key role LuxConnect plays in the Luxembourg. Knowing more about LuxConnect than what was witten on its Wikipedia page, I thought I could get it back to relevancy. I would love to explore the opportunity for you to help me with the design of the page whilst I adpat the content. What would you think about that ? BR, Lola2012 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.185.254.56 (talk) 20:30, 7 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

That was accidental and I reverted my change before any other revisions were made. Please fix the table though. If you can't fix it then please remove it. FalkirksTalk 16:02, 8 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hello Falkirks. This message is part of a mass mailing to people who appear active in reviewing articles for creation submissions. First of all, thank you for taking part in this important work! I'm sorry this message is a form letter – it really was the only way I could think of to covey the issue economically. Of course, this also means that I have not looked to see whether the matter is applicable to you in particular.

The issue is in rather large numbers of copyright violations ("copyvios") making their way through AfC reviews without being detected (even when easy to check, and even when hallmarks of copyvios in the text that should have invited a check, were glaring). A second issue is the correct method of dealing with them when discovered.

If you don't do so already, I'd like to ask for your to help with this problem by taking on the practice of performing a copyvio check as the first step in any AfC review. The most basic method is to simply copy a unique but small portion of text from the draft body and run it through a search engine in quotation marks. Trying this from two different paragraphs is recommended. (If you have any question about whether the text was copied from the draft, rather than the other way around (a "backwards copyvio"), the Wayback Machine is very useful for sussing that out.)

If you do find a copyright violation, please do not decline the draft on that basis. Copyright violations need to be dealt with immediately as they may harm those whose content is being used and expose Wikipedia to potential legal liability. If the draft is substantially a copyvio, and there's no non-infringing version to revert to, please mark the page for speedy deletion right away using {{db-g12|url=URL of source}}. If there is an assertion of permission, please replace the draft article's content with {{subst:copyvio|url=URL of source}}.

Some of the more obvious indicia of a copyvio are use of the first person ("we/our/us..."), phrases like "this site", or apparent artifacts of content written for somewhere else ("top", "go to top", "next page", "click here", use of smartquotes, etc.); inappropriate tone of voice, such as an overly informal tone or a very slanted marketing voice with weasel words; including intellectual property symbols (™,®); and blocks of text being added all at once in a finished form with no misspellings or other errors.

I hope this message finds you well and thanks again you for your efforts in this area. Best regards--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 02:20, 18 November 2014 (UTC).[reply]

DRN needs assistance

[edit]

You are receiving this message because you have listed yourself as a volunteer at the Dispute Resolution Noticeboard.

We have a backlog of cases there which need volunteer attention. If you have time available, please take one or more of these cases.

If you do not intend to take cases or help with the administration of DRN on a regular basis, or if you do not wish to receive further notices of this nature, please remove your username from the volunteer list. If you later decide to resume activities at DRN you may relist your name at that time.

Help needed at DRN

[edit]

You are receiving this message because you are signed up as a volunteer at the Dispute Resolution Noticeboard. We have a number of pending requests which need a volunteer to address them. Unless you are an inexperienced volunteer who is currently just watching DRN to learn our processes, please take a case. If you do not see yourself taking cases in the foreseeable future, please remove yourself from the volunteer list so that we can have a better idea of the size of our pool of volunteers; if you do see yourself taking cases, please watchlist the DRN page and keep an eye out to see if there are cases which are ready for a volunteer. We have recently had to refuse a number of cases because they were listed for days with no volunteer willing to take them, despite there being almost 150 volunteers listed on the volunteer page. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. DRN help needed and volunteer roll call

[edit]

You are receiving this message because you have listed yourself on the list of volunteers at Wikipedia:Dispute resolution noticeboard/Volunteering#List of the DRN volunteers.

First, assistance is needed at DRN. We have recently closed a number of cases without any services being provided for lack of a volunteer willing to take the case. There are at least three cases awaiting a volunteer at this moment. Please consider taking one.

Second, this is a volunteer roll call. If you remain interested in helping at DRN and are willing to actively do so by taking at least one case (and seeing it through) or helping with administrative matters at least once per calendar month, please add your name to this roll call list. Individuals currently on the principal volunteer list who do not add their name on the roll call list will be removed from the principal volunteer list after June 30, 2016 unless the DRN Coordinator chooses to retain their name for the best interest of DRN or the encyclopedia. Individuals whose names are removed after June 30, 2016, should feel free to re-add their names to the principal volunteer list, but are respectfully requested not to do so unless they are willing to take part at DRN at least one time per month as noted above. No one is going to be monitoring to see if you live up to that commitment, but we respectfully ask that you either live up to it or remove your name from the principal volunteer list.

New deal for page patrollers

[edit]

Hi Falkirks,

In order to better control the quality of new pages, keep out the spam, and welcome the genuine newbies, the current system we introduced in 2011 is being updated and improved. The documentation and tutorials have also been revised and given a facelift. Most importantly a new user group New Page Reviewer has been created.

Under the new rule, you may find that you are temporarily unable to mark new pages as reviewed. However, this is nothing to worry about - most current experienced patrollers are being accorded the the new right without the need to apply, and if you have significant previous experience of patrolling new pages, we strongly encourage you to apply for the new right as soon as possible - we need all the help we can get, and we are now providing a dynamic, supportive environment for your work.

Find out more about this exiting new user right now at New Page Reviewers and be sure to read the new tutorial before applying. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 04:29, 13 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Airdrop menu iOS.jpg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Airdrop menu iOS.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.

This bot DID NOT nominate any file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 01:00, 7 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hello Falkirks. I am new to Wikipedia, and I created an account specifically to rectify the false information provided about KATE MARKOWITZ. I work directly for Kate, and my edits are specifically at her request. I don't understand why you would go back in and replace my edit with false information. Who are you, and where did you get your information? Because I assure you, your data is incorrect.

I will go back into Kate's bio and edit again - with her correct information - and try to adhere to the guidelines that you stated are there...this is new to me, so pardon my ignorance.

I will be making additional edits to Kate's bio at her direction, so please - do not change it again.

Thank you.

Hello User:Vestere, I reverted your edit as it did not add a source for the new middle name. The existing source is https://www.discogs.com/artist/294722-Kate-Markowitz, so you should either replace this or add a new reference with a correct name. Regardless of whether you represent Kate, you need to adhere to Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons. FalkirksTalk 17:21, 3 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Please participate to the talk pages consultation

[edit]

Hello

Our team at the Wikimedia Foundation is working on a project to improve the ease-of-use and productivity of wiki talk pages. As a Teahouse host, I can imagine you’ve run into challenges explaining talk pages to first-time participants.

We want all contributors to be able to talk to each other on the wikis – to ask questions, to resolve differences, to organize projects and to make decisions. Communication is essential for the depth and quality of our content, and the health of our communities. We're currently leading a global consultation on how to improve talk pages, and we're looking for people that can report on their experiences using (or helping other people to use) wiki talk pages. We'd like to invite you to participate in the consultation, and invite new users to join too.

We thank you in advance for your participation and your help.

Dispute regarding the Revenue of Indian Premier League on Wiki Page "List of professional sports leagues by revenue."

[edit]

Dispute regarding the Revenue of Indian Premier League on Wiki Page "List of professional sports leagues by revenue." The Source you cited listed the IPL's "Value" not their annual "Revenue." That source and your edit has distorted the information other editors have relied on.

Referring to this permalink page: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=List_of_professional_sports_leagues_by_revenue&direction=next&oldid=983397162

I've researched this topic and found a very comprehensive Source (https://businessbar.net/all/ipl-680m-revenues-and-not-out/). Latest Edits I've made to the Wiki Page is based on the IPL's $678 Million annual "Revenue" (as opposed to the IPL's "Value").

Seems that other editors are mistakenly using IPL's "Valuation" rather than the IPL's annual "Revenue" as well.
