A question

[edit]

As much as I admire your efforts to improve the List of video game companies article, I do not entirely understand the purpose of unlinking all the listings in the Role(s) column (which incidentally I created)that I made. What was wrong with having a link to the Wikipedia article on Game Developers, Game Publishers or Console Developers, may I ask, and why did you feel so inclined to change it? Apart from this small oddity, thank you so much for editing this page and making it better. ShmenonPie - You wanna slice of me? (talk) 19:43, 14 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi ShmenonPie,
I thought it was kind of an overabundance to have all these links to the same article, and this might look better.
I just left the links at the top of the page, and link to the less common articles (arcade game, reality game etc.)
That's just my idea though. If you think it's better to have everything linked, feel free to =)

Russian cult games article

[edit]

Hi GameLegend,

I have linked the right page. I am native speaker of Russian and I assure you that the literal translation of the name of the page is "Cult computer games". Yes, we do have a major problem with this page in Russian Wiki, as some people don't seem to understand what cult game is, stating that any hit game is a cult game and any hit film is a cult film. We are working on re-writing Russian article. Netrat_msk (talk) 08:54, 27 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Notability of VSTEP

[edit]

A tag has been placed on VSTEP requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Accounting4Taste:talk 17:36, 27 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of VSTEP

[edit]

A tag has been placed on VSTEP requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. --/Mendaliv//Δ's/ 04:25, 28 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I moved it because I think that, with a general subject like video games, it should be enumerated that the article refers to world records. Though it's possible to move it back, I'll ask to see which one is more correct.--ZXCVBNM (TALK) 23:54, 20 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

List of Formula One driver records

[edit]

Hi GameLegend. I have started a discussion about the "Highest average of races finished in the points" table (now called "Highest percentage of races finished in the points") which you added to List of Formula One driver records. I invite you to participate in the discussion. DH85868993 (talk) 11:28, 14 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Reception

[edit]

See Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style_(film)#Reception for the relevant policy, specifically "Do not quote comments from members of the general public (e.g., user comments from Amazon.com, the Internet Movie Database or personal blogs), as they are self-published and have no proven expertise or credibility in the field" and "Do not include user ratings submitted to websites such as the Internet Movie Database or Rotten Tomatoes, as they are vulnerable to vote stacking and demographic skew". Only critic reviews belong in the reception section of a movie or videogame, not user-submitted reviews. It doesn't matter how relevant you think they might be, that's policy. Herr Gruber (talk) 10:53, 13 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I don't really see how citing a critic saying that the fans will decide something is a notable statement about the game, since it's not about how good or otherwise the game is. The section is supposed to be about what the critics think of the work, and including such a comment is against the spirit of the rules. Herr Gruber (talk) 12:10, 13 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
You are quoting a critic talking about the fans, not the game. Furthermore, the quote is a useless platitude that says nothing. Herr Gruber (talk) 12:13, 14 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I have removed File:Senna accident.jpg which you added to 1994 Formula One cheating controversy with this edit, because it does not have a valid non-free media use rationale for the article. Please see Wikipedia:Non-free content for the applicable policy and Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline if you want to address the issues. Thank you. Mansell/Vettel

[edit]

The mention of these records needs a clarification of how the two drivers compare, or there is zero point in having them on there. I know you don't do a lot else but maintain these records, but they still have to be encyclopedic. Saying that the Mansell and Vettel poles records are equal is misleading, and unencyclopedic. A slight breakdown of how they reached the 14 poles has to be, and will be, added. 14 out of 16 and 14 out of 18 are not equal. A mere mention of the percentage record is not enough, because it fails to make the link between the two records, for the casual reader. It's just not clear enough. So if you insist on reverting my (perfectly accurate, verifiable and pertinent) edit, then pease add this information in a way you are happy with, either at the pole record mention, or the percentage record mention, or we'll take it somewhere else. I don't wonder though, why you insist on reverting such a harmless edit. Bretonbanquet (talk) 12:28, 13 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of MultiSafepay

The article MultiSafepay has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

The coverage (references, external links, etc.) does not seem sufficient to justify this article passing Wikipedia:General notability guideline and the more detailed Wikipedia:Notability (companies) requirement. If you disagree and deprod this, please explain how it meets them on the talk page in the form of "This article meets criteria A and B because..." and ping me back. Thank you,

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Speedy deletion nomination of Zylom

[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Zylom, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
